Mine is just a gif of Botan from the anime 'yu yu hakusho'. It was the first anime I ever watched, so it has a warm place in my heart. Her character is also my favourite, she has great energy, growing up I always wished I could be more like her. No matter what the situation is, she always seems to stay true to herself. She has great social skills, and she often seems happy & friendly, but yet she's a strong person and is able to stand up for herself. Basically, the opposite of me!

Mine is Takashi Waku, one of the main characters from the anime Bokurano.
This guy is awesome! He's a charismatic and natural leader who has to deal with life and lots of responsibilities always being under pressure. In spite of that, he always tries to be happy and in a good mood. He reminds me of myself, especially when I was younger!

Silver the Hedgehog was always my favorite Sonic character for as long as I've been a fan of the franchise, which happened relatively late in 2012 and when I was already a freshman in college. My first real dive into a Sonic game was from watching the Game Grumps play the infamously terrible Sonic 06, aka the game that introduces Silver. Silver's boss battle in the game is both glitchy and hilarious as he will often grab and freeze the player for 5 seconds while shouting "IT'S NO USE" in a very annoying voice. Even back then I always felt that phrase is such a simple yet efficient way to summarize life. It really is no use sometimes. Here's a sample of the boss fight:


Much like Lucina, Silver is also from a doomed future and his whole M.O. is to travel back to the past to change said future. Spoilers for a 15 year old bad game but at the end of Silver's own story, it turns out that the only way for him to defeat Iblis is for his only friend Blaze the Cat (don't ask why she's there) to seal the demon within her and effectively put herself to sleep. This ties in very well to Silver's theme song 'Dreams of an Absolution' which while being one of my favorite songs ever, contains the lyric "happiness lies trapped in misery".

Such an applicable statement. Silver accomplishes what he set out to do, but it was at the cost of the only thing making him happy before. This is often how I see any task that requires effort. Any achievement always comes with a degree of suffering that feels not worth it to me...


As for the profile picture itself, it actually comes from a video parody made by the official Sonic YouTube channel last Christmas. For obvious reasons, Silver is depicted as the Ghost of Christmas Future. Next Christmas will probably be my last before I CTB sometime in 2022 which is why I felt it was appropriate to make him my profile picture here...
