An hour ago I was being berated and verbally abused by my mom again over my younger brother's education (he's 7, 1st grade). My mom has kept him in online school because of the pandemic and his spectrum issues. She requires me to sit with him the entire school day and feed him answers to problems so his teachers think he is gifted. I attempted to walk out with a backpack full of my favorite things and unknown to her a knife and pain killers. She wouldn't let me out and said if I left she would call the police and say I was going to kill myself and needed to be hospitalized. My question is why? If I died she would be free from my expenses, She just got done screaming about what a horrible and unhelpful daughter I was yet won't let me walk out of her house? I promised her if I left today she would never see me again or be burdened by me but she won't allow me to go. I asked her and she said it would just cause more problems, I asked her how and she said it would cause drama, I asked her how again, she said because she would have to call the police. I asked why and she didn't give an answer. I'm an adult, it's not like she would get in any legal trouble if I ctb but she won't let me go. It's all just confusing. Why should anyone have the right to force someone to live? It seems barbaric.

It's because people are blinded by their selfishness and delusions to the point that they refuse to acknowledge that suicide is in fact a perfectly rational option in a world like this. At least to me, it would make sense for me to want to take control over when I die, we are all destined to die anyway and suicide is the only way to permanently solve all problems and prevent all future harm caused by existing. I see it as always being better to not exist and it disgusts me how people try to force suicidal people to stay here, they certainly shouldn't have any right to do something like that, forcing someone to stay here against their wishes is inhumane.

The simplest answer is they aren't living our lives. They don't feel the pain we're feeling. They don't wake up every day with our feeling. They just don't get us.

Not knowing your situation I can't say for sure. It could be selfish motives, that she just wants you around to take care of your brother. But most parents genuinely love their children. So she might love you too much to let you go and be afraid to say it.

The fact is that most people do find inherent value in life and view CTB as a negative thing by default. It's a difference in mindset. I myself switch between this mindset and wanting to CTB often.

I think when human's common enemies were nature, it made sense for humans to encourage each other to live and help each other to survive to fight our common enemies. But time has changes. Today most threats people face come from other people. Those in power have impose many rules to regulate what other people can or cannot do and say. The pro-life attitude no longer makes sense. It just intensifies the infighting between humans, making everyone very busy and stressful. But the ruling class might be pleased to see powerless people suffering and blaming each other.

It is barbaric. I'm so sorry you're having to deal with such a toxic situation.
When I was a teenager and my parents found out that I was SHing a lot and was planning an attempt they put me on suicide watch, locking me in, taking away anything sharp enough I could cut myself with, and constantly watching me it was so humiliating I tried to run away but was just grabbed and forced back.

Last year, I was forcefully stopped from dying by total strangers. The drugs I had taken were starting to work, I was losing my balance at the edge of the bridge, it would've fucking worked; but some random woman grabbed me from behind and wouldn't let go, and then some random man picked me up and princess carried me over the railing against my will before calling the cops. I told them both to leave me be but they wouldn't, they touched me without my consent, grabbed me without my consent, picked me up and carried me without my consent. It was humiliating and degrading and just... Fuck, it would've worked if they hadn't interfered!
I hate that people think they have the right to save any stranger they see, no matter what the person's actual wishes are. I hate that society views this as noble and heroic behaviour to forcefully intervene and stop other's attempts to end their life on their own terms. It's so cruel.

You don't owe these people anything. You didn't ask to be in the situation you're in. You don't deserve this...

They think that life is beautiful and that every shitty minute of it should be cherished. They're saving others for mostly selfish reasons because they have to put themselves in that situation to gain understanding. So of course preventing is a good thing. They see themselves on that bridge. But it's not them and they don't know shit.
