My grandmothers are the two people I have absolutely no respect for on this Earth. I have no clue why both of my grandmothers have turned out diabolical.

My paternal grandmother lived her life as a controlling narcissist. She has the personality of Donald Trump but she obviously has nowhere near the accomplishments to warrant that behavior. She lives off the money earned by my deceased paternal grandfather. She bullied him in his last years and I know that because I lived with them at the time. She was truly evil with him and my grandpa was nothing but conciliatory with her.

Now my dad lives her and every word that comes out of her mouth is an insult about him. She's utterly clueless regarding the weak position she is in. She complains about everyone who helps her. She begs me to come back and live with her. I'd rather be homeless than live with Satan again.

She refuses to talk to her sister. Her other children refuse to visit her. My dad has the unfortunate feeling of obligation for her, even though she constricts him like a piper. He is like his father, a completely weak pushover who has consistently destroyed his life in order to please women in his life (my mom was the first).

My dad's mother was just a cruel piece of work. Imagine when her granddaughter, my sister, got married. She filed a false police complaint on my sister's name the day before her marriage. Just to interfere with the marriage. Imagine the hatred that these people harbor to do that kind of thing.

Not surprising. Some people are born cruel, and they only get worse with age. I mean, so many fairy tales are filled with tropes of these people after all.

It sounds like you are doing a decent job of keeping yourself out of the way of what is clearly a troubled woman. Sounds like the right approach, hope you can keep the good job of detaching.
