Scientific article in Journal of Clinical Psychiatry discusses the impact of treatment resistant depression in the USA.

J Clin Psychiatry 2021;82(2):20m13699

To cite: Zhdanava M, Pilon D, Ghelerter I, et al. The prevalence and national burden of treatment-resistant depression and major depressive disorder in the United States. J Clin Psychiatry. 2021;82(2):20m13699.

Results: The estimated 12-month prevalence of medication-treated MDD in the United States was 8.9 million adults, and 2.8 million (30.9%) had TRD. The total annual burden of medication-treated MDD among the US population was $92.7 billion, with $43.8 billion (47.2%) attributable to TRD. The share of TRD was 56.6% ($25.8 billion) of the health care burden, 47.7% ($8.7 billion) of the unemployment burden, and 32.2% ($9.3 billion) of the productivity burden of medication-treated MDD.

Conclusions: TRD is associated with disproportionate health care costs and unemployment, suggesting potentially large economic and societal gains with effective management.

That's 2.8 million or nearly 1/3 of depression disorders in the USA are treatment resistant. This means that of US adults with depression, nearly 1 in 3 have major depressive disorder that is resisting treatment. This is not a choice people consciously made. Imagine if 1/3 of physical trauma cases such as broken limbs or burns were treatment resistant and those acute problems were just stuck with the physical pain and the prevailing wisdom was "call your doctor and see them" but the acute pain of bone break or burn trauma was not improving. Where would those patients go?

This is an indicator as to why sanctioned suicide sees multiple views. It's amazing to me that the kellikaren fixthe26 world contacts congress about a single website when the root cause of increasing suicide year over year is not the existence of a single website or internet ideology. We have increasing numbers of severely depressed individuals with chronic depressed trauma and pain that is not being helped by current clinical and medical therapy.

Instead of fixing 26 words why don't you work toward "fixthebasicscienceoftherapyandclincialdeoressiontreatment"

I found it on accident and am eternally grateful that I did. On the note of treatment resistance, I've been struggling with SI for years and been through countless different "professionals" none of which have ever come close to working. I've given up on mental health professionals because every single one of them tries the exact same thing and it got old a long time ago. The truth is defining mental problems as an actual medical issue is relatively new, thus for all their posing no doctor has the slightest clue how to properly deal with them. Yes research has come along way, and yes these people are extensively trained, but we live in the shitty age of legitimate concern over these issues being novel. All I can hope is that my problems will contribute to societal knowledge such that my successors may experience a treatment that can definitively be considered "expert".

We have increasing numbers of severely depressed individuals with chronic depressed trauma and pain that is not being helped by current clinical and medical therapy.

Some of us have gone above and beyond to try and ameliorate the "treatment-resistant" portion of MDD. Some of us have gone to WAR with MDD.

What irks me the most about fixthe26, and any other similar organizations that want the total obliteration of sanctioned suicide, is that we as participants of this forum, are individually infantilized by unsympathetic onlookers, castigated in the media, and revoked of our right to bodily-autonomy and freedom of choice just because we type words on an online forum.

We are also automatically assumed to have come to sanctioned suicide as a first order of operation, or at best, that we haven't tried nearly EVERY pragmatic approach out there to quell the indescribable suffering. We are not seen as adults: we are seen as petulant children who are just having a bad day and need to be put into time-out, except this time-out isn't a 20 minute think tank for introspection; it's a prison, it's a psych ward--it's an excommunication from your own home, family and all of those that live around you. It's more torture.

I've spent a DECADE scouring information pertaining to MDD protocols. For years I had tried every practical and experimental protocol that's out there. I won't get into specifics, but I could, on demand, write up a 50 page word document of all the shit I have tried, all in order to put my TRD MDD into total remission. These protocols, attempts and treatments are BURNED into my mind and I would be happy to write out a 50 page word-document IN FRONT of fixthe26 Karens so they know I am not just copy & pasting or writing out fiction to support my narrative/arguments agaisnt them.

If you were to ask these scornful mothers behind the fixthe26 movement, what the next steps should be for yourself, they will spend less than seconds with you, replying to your desperate inquisition for their curative holy-grails with the most basic robotic responses possible: meds, therapy, suicide hotlines and institutionalization. Considering they talk so authoritatively and all-knowing about effective and tangible HELP being out there, you'd expect a seriously nuanced discussion bringing light to ALL the possible treatments out there, whether that be cutting-edge, experimental, conventional, alternative and so on and so forth.

Instead, Fixthe26 wants me to go back to the same cookie cutter doctors that potentiated my anhedonia and bullied my depression into a treatment-resistant form.

I'M THE WORST THAT I HAVE EVER BEEN, and these cunts want me to seek answers and advice AGAIN from those who permanently reside at square one. They want me to abandon all nuance, and endure the same unendurable trauma that the impetuous and slaphappy doctors tried to defile me with the first several times.

They want me to start at the bottom again, just like you'd start a video game over from the start but from legendary difficulty, and only 1 analog stick to play with.

I think it's the word length of a paragraph that makes giving suicide advice legal. You can read it on the homepage of fixthe26. Someone here probably can confirm/correct my statement so you don't have to visit that website.

The 26 words that they demand to be fixed (actually they just want them removed) come from Section 230 of a US internet law which basically states that website domain hosts and such are not criminally liable for the content they host. Essentially if section 230 were actually deleted then everyone who works at Google would go to jail if an incel forum shows up in a search result, or all of Tik Tok would have to be shut down if someone posts about their latest shoplifting (this would actually be okay in my opinion lol). It also means the Internet as you know it would basically become like China or maybe a subreddit with extremely anal mods. At least that's my understanding of it. I'm not a lawyer though.

The main players of Fixthe26 would have you believe that this would be a good change for everyone but they're likely far too blinded by their bias against this one website to see or even care about how badly it would effect the internet as a whole. Ironically, many of them who identify as conservative would probably suffer most under a Fixed26 because that would likely just lead to public discussion becoming even more politically correct thanks to all the censorship.

this. all of this. i have done every god damned thing. even shock therapy, which i'm sure they would be against until they hear that someone hasn't tried it and still wants to die. there is nothing i haven't tried and everything i have tried has left me more traumatized than before. a suicide hotline isn't going to do jack shit for me and getting rid of this forum won't help at all. id just be more isolated with nowhere to turn to when things get bad again. when i go here i can be honest about my feelings without worrying about being thrown into a hospital that will just try the same treatments that haven't done anything for the past 10 years

TRD sucks, doctors tend to either want to start over from scratch or become skeptical of you, and well-meaning people will tell you that you just need to "wait" for new drugs to be developed. What, like all those people waiting for Jesus and Half-Life 3?

Thank you all for sharing your stories. TRD is the most painful thing I have ever experienced. There is a unique despair in wanting treatment to help, in crying and crying out for help and searching all over the place and trying everything... but nothing helps, nothing ever helps, and then you end up scouring the internet for methods to end it all. And although I know TRD isn't uncommon, it feels very isolating, since everywhere I look in treatment I see hopeful people getting better as they try a new med and get into therapy. But I don't. And likely won't. For reasons I can neither understand nor control, I cannot recover.

That's 2.8 million or nearly 1/3 of depression disorders in the USA are treatment resistant. This means that of US adults with depression, nearly 1 in 3 have major depressive disorder that is resisting treatment. This is not a choice people consciously made. My reasoning for reaching out as was to acquire the correct method to ctb. I damn well shall not miss the bus this time. I found out about SS, in an article where a Hollywood child star had ctb with sn. His mom was calling sn suicide powder. I'd have to call sn the powder of liberation! Love to all here.

I found SS by searching for SN and because I cannot talk to any shrink or I could lose everything. Freedom. Job. I would rather die. So my TRD gets worse everyday because I talk to no one and it just eats away at me inside.
