I don't understand. Then they appear shocked and break down when the person finally does it.

Well look at Lisa Marie Presley's and Sinead O'Conner's son's who killed themselves. They had high profile parents who didn't really discuss much of what made their son's feel so bad to make them want to end it. Sinead is basically blaming the Irish state and the lack of good care he received. But I haven't heard her mention what led him to that hospital in the first place. It is probably part of the grieving process with the blame game. I just wish we knew what was going through his head before and during the time he left the Psych ward, which led to him hanging himself. Elvis's grandson, Benjamin Keough, was said to have been suffering from depression for a long time. It was told that he got a five million record deal prior to his death. I think family members never think that suicide will knock on their loved ones (or even their) doors. People don't always catch the signs or they ignore them and just think that they are going through phases. It's a complicated matter all round with no easy answers but as a society we could do better. We need to let go of the stigma and taboo surrounding suicide and death in general. Some people just don't want to be here and that's a lot for family members to get to grips with but it still has to be open to debate.I don't understand. Then they appear shocked and break down when the person finally does it.

I know a family like that. Why do they do that? It's sadMy mum had a sister, my auntie, I never met. She killed herself at 19 because her bf dumped her. Family barely talks about her, it's like a taboo, like she never existed, the Sinner. The weak one.
Never saw a photo of her , it's like she never existed. My mum told me she was beautiful. Don't know how she CTB either, just know Elza yes with a Z was her name.My mum had a sister, my auntie, I never met. She killed herself at 19 because her bf dumped her. true, but what do you want to call them instead then? The ones who don't understand? We have to call them something in order to get our points across.I just have a question...why do you call non-suicidal people 'normies'? I'm right there with you on being pissed off that others don't understand the extent of the suffering but calling them normies seems a little...idk, childish to me?
I think if we want people to take us more seriously we should probably avoid language like that.
I think you're absolutely right. It doesn't help one single bit, and just serves to otherize ppl for no good reason.I just have a question...why do you call non-suicidal people 'normies'? Lol ok but then you have to realise that you're contributing the problem of the divide between us and those who have never experienced suicidality.
They're "others." Non-human primitive beasts who have not experienced the full spectrum of the human experience and have concluded it's not worth it.Lol ok but then you have to realise that you're contributing the problem of the divide between us and those who have never experienced suicidality.
