Over the past year, increased regulatory pressure in multiple regions like UK OFCOM and Australia's eSafety has led to higher operational costs, including infrastructure, security, and the need to work with more specialized service providers to keep the site online and stable.

Why do medics save your life after a suicide attempt if they know you’ll be a vegetable?

I mean I kind of try to understand how it feels like from the point of view of a healthy person that never experienced depression (most doctors). And even for me, if I saw someone ctbing my gut instinct would be to stop them cause Im not prepared for that kind of thing
But at the same time I cant help but think doing something like that is extreme sadism disguised as 'ethics'
Why is that that we put down animals to prevent them from suffering but think its acceptable to leave someone alive in a locked in syndrome so he can just stare at the wall ahead of him for 50 years?
And NEVER in my life will I believe the paramedics who told me to 'stop wasting resources and jump again so Im done for' are actually looking forward to saving me.
My answer is that they are bound by law and their organization in which they work for (duty and ethics) to save a person's life, regards of the wishes of the person. For a medic arriving at the scene, they could be seeing an accident victim, a suicidal person, or just a victim of a violent crime, etc. So all the people who said that it's because they "have" to otherwise they'd face legal and civil consequences (including being sued by the victim's family, friend, or acquaintance, etc.), that is true too. If I recall, an old time member @TiredHorse used to be an EMT so he would probably say the same as well. He (when was an EMT) was required to render aid regardless of what he thought about it.
Do medics seriously think that a previously suicidal person will change their mind about life, and will come to appreciate life after becoming brain damaged, disfigured and/or quadriplegic?
And isn't saving the life of people who don't want to be saved "playing God?" It's not like they'd have to do anything to actively kill you-they could just wait for nature to take its course.
They are just part of the awful system to keep people alive just because, no matter how much they suffer. They are just small gears in a big machine that makes a lot of money. They must not make decisions but do everything to keep you alive, they have no choice whatsoever. They are not cruel, the system is, the people that deny legal availability of death drugs, the politicians and bureaucrats.
Its definitely not like sleeping. You would likely be aware of everything around you, can hear every word but are unable to respond or interact in any way. You are trapped in a living hell inside your own body.
You're possibly thinking of being unconscious and in a coma, which is different from being a "vegetable" with brain damage etc.
When there is need for a ventilator the person dies when it is turned off, like my granpa did who was very sick and family decided to let him go because he wanted so.
And NEVER in my life will I believe the paramedics who told me to 'stop wasting resources and jump again so Im done for' are actually looking forward to saving me.
Well, that adds much to this thread as it shows the mindset of the paramedics: There is none, they are just doing their job like a janitor is changing the light bulbs. They would also save the life of a nazi or a rapist, even though they would rather see them dead. It is just brain off and save that persons life.
Their job is to preserve life. How ever that life maybe.
DNR orders are filed by your GP. They will only file it if you they deem you in the right state of mind to make such a decision. You can't just put DNR on your suicide note and expect it to be taken into consideration.
I'm going on my father filing his one and then subsequently being hospitalised and not resuscitated. I don't know what they do if you request one to be filed whilst you are an inpatient.
For a long while I felt rage at lobotomies being perfectly legal back in the day, and it's horrific. But I do stop to wonder with things like this, how much could you actually suffer? Most of my suffering, in fact all, stems from the ability to think
As someone that has been permanently chemically lobotomized, among other things, by psyche drugs it's a suffering you can't even comprehend. Nothing but a logic brain intact. Complete loss of humanity. I'm not sure even lobotomies caused this severity of damage a lot of the time. I would take back my old OCD and anxiety any day. At least I was still a person.

As a paramedic, we are ingrained to save lives, help people..I always ask about a valid DNR. There are certain legalities that must be on the document. I work very hard to honor the patient's wishes. However, I have been told by family to ignore it and work them. (Unfortunately, family can override the DNR), I still do my job but it infuriates me that the family's selfishness overrides what the pt wants and deserves. Many times the DNR is not filled out properly by the doctor which makes it invalid. I do not doubt the money initiative on keeping someone alive but that is the last thing on my mind.
That is the problem. You are deemed to be unable to do such a decision way too easily. I think as long as somebody understands what dying means he is capable of such a decision. In most countries however you are said to be unable to make rational decisions in the moment you get mentally ill. That is not right. I know how that feels, people shut off their empathy completely, treat you like a criminal. That misses the point completely; the decision to die is always emotional, as nobody can feel ones pain and nobody except the person itself can make such a decision.
