Discussion Why are we born to die?

Does life have any purpose if all that happens is we die at the end?

not really, imo we're just kinda placed here. i guess the only purpose would be to ensure the next generation will have a better world but we all see how that's turning out. people take this life shit too seriously

I've thought about this a lot myself. The purpose of your life is for you to decide. This is why some people turn to religion or spiritual traditions. It's why I turned to spirituality. Is spirituality right or wrong about how this all works? I don't know and I think everyone should decide for themselves as to what they believe in. I just know that for some people this helps in finding purpose or in finding reasons to keep going, especially if you're having a very difficult life.

I generally don't want to get too nihilistic here, but I don't believe there is a philosophically satisfying reason for death. It's probably just a byproduct of evolution in some way. Either way, we exist and even if it isn't real, we at least think we have some kind of free will and choices to shape our lives. So there may not be an objective purpose, but if you so desire, you can try finding one yourself.

Life being temporary is what gives it purpose. This life could potentially be the only form of existence we ever get to experience. After we die we could never exist ever again eternally. So why waste such an opportunity? Why not do all of the things you wanna do in life and achieve your dreams and goals. If life were to be eternal. It would lack meaning as we would have an endless amount of time to achieve all of the things we want and our existence would eventually lose meaning.

No, never, I'll just always see existing as just being dreadful unnecessary suffering with no limit as to how much one can be tortured and I'll just always see it as an abomination to suffer in this existence, to me existence will always be a mistake that just causes all this cruelty, harm and suffering with existing beings tortured in agony every second.

It's just so terrible how this existence as even imposed at all causing all this torture and suffering as a result, no matter what this existence should never be imposed and it's just the most terrible tragedy how it was, for me non-existence is just all that's positive, for me ceasing to exist would be the positive solution to find peace from all future dreadful unnecessary suffering in this torturous, futile existence that is just waiting to die anyway.
