Hi!
I know this is really off topic but is there a particular comedian or comedy sketch that makes you laugh or just makes your day a little more bearable?
If so then maybe you could mention it below or even post a video.

I know It seems kind of weird talking about comedy on a suicide forum but when you struggle with suicidal ideation on a daily basis sometimes you just want to distract yourself with something entertaining; or at least thats how it is with me.

I'll start.
Even though there are several comedians I really like I really warm to Gabriel Iglesias -

I love stand-up comedies too. I prefer dark and offensive comedy more so I never watched Gabriel Iglesias jokes but he's obviously very funny and talented. I can see why you like him.

One of my favorite jokes is Seinfeld's suicide joke. It cracks me up every time.

Another comedian I love is Anthony Jeselnik. His amoral jokes are top-notch.

I basically like every comedian with a cynical sense of humor, like Bill Burr, Ricky Gervais, Ronny Chieng, and Sarah Silverman.

Thank you for contributing to my thread.
Yeah theres nothing wrong with a little edgy humour.
When Jeselnik started talking talking about the ex priest I was like Oh My God I Can't Believe He Went there! But both him and Seinfeld made me laugh so its all good.
Gritty humour can be a good coping tool; for the more offensive comedians I generally like Margaret Cho but Ricky Gervais is good too.

Bill Hader is a great joy. His Stefon character from SNL is brilliant. Kate McKinnon and John Mulaney are other SNL types I can't get enough of.

Oh and Sarah Cooper! She's got a gift and she knows how to use it

John Mulaney is my favorite right now. I'm also a fan of James Acaster. In general, I love British panel shows and US late night talk shows as well.

@Sweet Release, John Mulaney was an SNL writer for a few years, and he and Bill Hader invented Stefon together. He's hosted SNL a few times, and also does very effective stand-up. And is he one of the Documentary Now! tribe?

He has three stand-up specials and a variety special on Netflix. They're all great. He's also one of the creators of the series "Big Mouth" on Netflix.

Some random John Mulaney ...

I'm sorry. I'm doing anything I can think of to stop grieving for RBG. She did good for a long time but we still need her.

Hey, I'm just glad to see someone who enjoys stand-ups.

You mentioned Margaret Cho and I never heard of her name before so I googled her. And the moment I saw her picture I realized she was Kim Jong-ill from 30 Rock, which is one of my favorite tv shows. I didn't know she's Korean and does stand-ups. I'm definitely gonna check out her stand-up gigs. Thanks for the info.

@Sweet Release, I'm glad you enjoyed John Mulaney and Eddie's poor misbegotten cake. And he looks at it with such affection despite it all ... "Yes yes, those are human teeth ..." :pfff:

Don Rickles imo is the best comedian ever. I like Joan Rivers too. I don't find any of the modern comics funny at all.

If we're talking standup comedians I'd have to say Dave Chappelle and Mitch Hedberg.

Haven't seen much of Greg Giraldo's standup, but thought he was a genius in all the Comedy Central Roasts he was apart of.
