I've been drinking heavily 2-3 times a week, I start and spend the next several hours consuming beer util I'm hungry enough, so I eat and pass out. Next day I wake feeling like shit (which is how I'm feeling atm) and recover for the next session. This is the only way I can escape from boredoom.

That's how it was for me when I used to drink. The entire next day was lost feeling like shit. That's why I quit, I didn't like feeling like shit. It wasn't about boredom then, though, it was about the "good time". I miss the good times, but not the partying.

I used it to escape from reality. For months I would sneak to my room, take out my private stash and get a little tipsy (not drunk because I would be driving the next day). As it went on I would get more and more drunk in the hopes of giving myself alcohol poisoning and dying. Eventually I had to get rid of it all but the temptation is always there. Being drunk is the only time I feel any joy or peace. Being sober is unbearable.

I used to, but I had to quit altogether because I couldn't stop drinking once I started & it was damaging my body.

When I was 21 I had similar patterns of using every other day, allowing myself a day to recover. I could only stick with that for so long before drinking every day.

I certainly do not have a healthy relationship with alcohol. I can go days without it so I can focus on my work but then binge drink and struggle to control it. I use it to de-stress and love the feeling of getting drunk but it can cause me problems and I don't always have a handle on it. I have a love/hate relationship with alcohol lasting for decades and know I should quit but it always pulls me back.

Drinking was my suicide prevention method for many years. Now I've been sober for a year and I'm more suicidal than ever. Drinking is an escape that takes your mind off what is bothering you in the moment. If you are looking for advice on how to drink and not feel like shit then you have to eat before you start drinking and eat a normal amount of food during the day whether you drink or not. Drinking without eating is a recipe for disaster and you will feel like shit every time

Abuse is such a strong word. You molest your beer as you grab the top shaft of the bottle tightening and loosening your grip. The condensation on the bottle acting as a lubricant to prevent a firm hold introducing an aspect of playful teasing.

Yes I have to be careful when I buy more than one bottle of wine I also drink more. So I buy only one. Although still unhealthy but it makes me feel better.
Strange how everyone says alkhol makes everything worse, I can't agree from years of experience.

But you should always set yourself a limit.

Yes agree, if I have two bottles will usually drink both. Sometimes I have something in which I don't enjoy as much to make me drink less although that doesn't always work

My sister was found to have slightly elevated liver enzymes and used to drink 1/2 bottle of wine a day. That makes you think.

Nowadays I obtain beer mostly every week now. I used to only be a casual drinker, but now it's a little more often. I love beer but I don't abuse it over se, but have drank 8 bottles in one night.

I know how to drink some beer now. But surprisingly I don't have hangovers - is that odd? I know your supposed to feel like straight shit. But at most I might feel groggier the following morning, but no headaches and such, maybe I process what little alcohol it contains. Mostly the 5.6%ers but have gotten the 11%. I usually don't get hard spirits but Tequila is not really a fav but I do like margaritas.

Like with alot of stuff - I don't do no "serv size sugg" it's all I can consume baby!

*raises hand*

A few years ago, I visited a friend of my mother's who suffers now from Alzheimer's. I have known this woman my whole life. She was there when I was born. She used to be proud and sharp as a tack. With her brain rot, she is little better than a child nowadays. Perhaps partly due to a very abusive childhood and bad relationships, she constantly believes she has been kidnapped and is being poisoned among other conspiracy theories.

When we visited her, it was very hard watching her go through that. The fallout for her family was enormous. Her son was on the verge of a divorce because his wife hated her. I remember thinking then that there were too many terrible situations in life to ever completely give up drinking.

My non-blood uncle sips whiskey pretty much every waking hour. He's 83 years old. I've never seen him mean, violent, sloppy or out of control. He seems to be in excellent health for a man his age. The strangest thing is he seems to be the type to have never had a care in the world.

I've long been fascinated how chronic drug, alcohol, and tobacco use affects everyone in different ways.

A depressent but also a numbing agent. Easily obtained and legal. An obvious tool for many! I could talk for hours as to how damaging it is and how some illegal narcotics have a positive influence when taken appropriately and in moderation. Illegal and not taxed so we mustn't discuss though 🙄😆
