I get it. That's why I think it could be really beneficial to look into some of the things I mentioned.
Things I've tried:
- Effexor
- Cymbalta
- Fetzima
- Abilify
- Rexulti
- Zyprexa
- Nortriptyline
- Emsam
- Adderall
- Provigil
- Wellbutrin
- Lithium
- Remeron
- Various supplements/vitamins
- 3 different psychologists
- An intensive outpatient program
- Spravato (ketamine nose spray)
- Ketamine infusions
- TMS
- Accelerated TMS
- Auvelity
- ECT
(I'm currently in the process of trying psychedelic therapy).
All of that and various combinations of them have all proven useless for me, but they help so many other people. I've asserted for a long time that if every mentally ill person received the type of care that I have been so lucky to receive that mental illness rates would plummet. Clinical studies with TMS, ketamine, Auvelity and ECT for depression have shown efficacy rates ranging from 70-90%, which is ridiculously good. If you can access this stuff, it is so much more likely to help than regular pills. Even an MAOI like Emsam has better results than SSRIs and SNRIs, it's just no longer first line treatment because of the side effects.
I'm in the exact same position with my mom. I know how difficult this decision is, and I obviously haven't had the resolve to kill myself yet primarily because of my family. I feel the cause of my so-called "depression" is a little different from most, which I think has been the main reason all these incredible treatments have done nothing for me. You seem to just want the pain to stop and have been disappointed by the treatments you've tried so far. I'm just trying to point out that there is so much more out there to try if you do have a desire to live but just without the depression.
I encourage you to look into things for yourself, but feel free to ask me any questions you may have regarding psychiatric care or suicide methods. I'm open to furthering whichever conversation you think would be more beneficial.
