The idea of a large group of people looking at my dead body makes me very uncomfortable. I want to be cremated shortly after my death so that I am something other than a body. However, I don't want my ashes to sit in one of my parents' houses and I would prefer to have them spread somewhere in nature. Any suggestions for me? Where would you want your ashes spread?

Sadly, I don't care. Somewhere along the way, meaning evaporated and nothing seems to matter. I already feel gone and forgotten.

The only person I loved or cared about is dead and there is nothing on earth that can make me stay.

So at this point I wouldn't care if my ashes where flushed down the toilet. I don't want to be here anymore I hate myself and my situation.

In reality, just thrown in the trash.
In a fanciful scenario that won't happen, some on stages where I played, some outside a library, and some along a favorite trail.
For a picturesque setting I've not been but hope to visit, among the redwoods in a spot where the Pacific and occasionally whales can be seen.

I think I would be ok with having my ashes buried in the woods or mixed in with fertilizer to help a tree grow (if that was botanically possible). I actually heard of a women who takes ashes and mixes them in with paint and makes a beautiful piece of scenic art or whatever you might like within her ability. Sounds nice and profound. But meh in reality we will be gone so not really our problem.

Somewhere quiet and peaceful where I will be forgotten about. However, I guess this does not really matter that much to me as by that point I will be gone, I will no longer exist.

I'd want my ashes to be scattered into the wind over a body of water; I'd also want all my photos and videos destroyed. That way, nothing of me remains, and no one who abused me in life can virtue-signal on my grave about missing me in death.

it doesnt matter to me as i dont care what happens to my body after death, we place too much value on our bodies and wanting them to look perfect or lie in a perfect state or ashes be spread somewhere special.

our ashes and body wont care, our sense of self will be gone to nothingness and oblivion.

Also every body decays.

+1

It will not matter in the end where the ashes go.

Already filled out the State-approved form that legally specifies where my ashes are to be dumped and by whom. Paid for cremation already and lawyer will assure wishes are honored. Ashes are going .... to the City dump.

In the sea I suppose. The problem is that I wouldn't want anyone to associate a place with "my death". All the places that are important to me are shared and I feel uncomfortable thinking about people going to locations in the future and feeling bad about them for that reason alone.

If you don't mind my asking: Are you in the U.S., and if so, how did you go about pre-paying for cremation? I didn't know that was a thing (as opposed to buying a cematery plot), but thinking about doing the same.

[Edit: Nevermind, I just found this online]:

Things like 'spreading my ashes' and funerals are really just things to help those that are left behind. It doesn't really make a crap bit difference to me what happens once I am actually gone.

At the beautiful garden nearby would be nice. One thing I have heard of people doing is planting the ashes with a tree, which also sounds nice to me. I guess it doesn't mean much to you if you're dead, but at least you can help feed a nice tree? I guess I don't know whether doing that would actually help the tree grow...haha. I think it's a comforting symbolic thing though.
