Hi, sorry if this sounds like a really silly question. I want to know where exactly to put the rope in relation to my neck when hanging, how I know if I have the right spot, and how much it matters if I don't have the rope around the exact right spot of my neck.

If this information helps, I'm gonna be using real rope for this. And my anchor point is against a wall, so I will have my back against something as I hang.

Any and all help is appreciated

Simplest way to go is to have the noose at the top of your neck, underneath your chin, with the knot directly behind your neck. And that's how I plan on going, too.

Wishing you care on your journey, no matter where it leads.

I assume this is full suspension hanging? If so, that's also my method of choice and I am of the opinion that the knot should go behind the neck. Should I attempt CTB again, that is how I would do it.

I got my information from either this thread or one of the other threads linked in the body/replies; they're a really informative set of threads on hanging, by the way. There should be a back-and-forth somewhere about your query somewhere in the replies but, put simply, the idea is that the knot should go directly behind your neck and under your chin and this is indeed the case in the example videos (I wouldn't blame you if you'd rather not watch them personally) of successful hangings in which the subject falls unconscious fairly quickly.
