I just came across this video and am shocked. So these robots never used to be able to move like this. But just look at this. This is ridiculous.Look at this thing traverse very difficult terrain and jump around on rocks and stuff.
We're going to end up with robots that can paint our house. Instruct our kids. Play the piano. Drive our cars. Carry us to the hospital in emergencies if we're injured. The possibilities are endless.

We don't need to worry about supplies in the wilderness if we're going hiking. And if they can defend us, then we don't need to worry about bears anymore...

But once they start adding advanced AI chips to this kind of thing. You never know where it can lead.

Those things have been around for a while... there are lots of different videos of variations of them around if you look.

Yeah, I saw them. I saw a variety of videos today . I've usually checked up on Boston Robotics, but I've not seen anything from this company. But this is insane. There used to be a time when they would just do a little twirl and that was that. Soon you will literally see them leap several feet into the air like superheroes and perform insane feats.

It seems like it wasn't all that long ago when just getting one to stand was a challenge... much less walking... and then on irregular surfaces at that. There are some pretty good two-legs robots walking around now as well, which is a different challenge than the 3-4 legged ones.

The thing with these things is usually when there are some breakthroughs, then they start making a lot more progress. The same thing happened with chip design as well. Quantum computers, Supercomputers And medical science. Pretty much everything.

And just like anything, these are eventually going to roll out for mass production and customer use. But they're also going to be prohibitively expensive initially and then slowly get more affordable.

I'd love an r2d too.

I don't know if you've played Half Life. But in Half Life you have this awesome robot dog. God I loved that dog. And it seems like most of the real life designs are going the same route now.

It would be awesome to have a companion like that. Japan released the Aibo A long time ago but that was so basic. @princexhhn I'm mentioning you again because I edited my post.

I watched my brother play Half Life, and yeah I remember that dog. There's someone on TikTok making a robot that reminds me of it

And yeah I love robo companions too, I grew up with a Furby. If only a newly improved modern Aibo can be released… (and more furbies..

Irobot was a show about a hacker. Still a great show nevertheless.☺️
