I loved the aesthetic of one called Guyver. Other old school ones: vampire hunter D, Akira, ghost in the shell are all amazing. Of recent ones I am enjoying kimetsu no yaiba.

Yu yu hakusho. I remember watching it at a very lonely time in my life as a kid. Though it did make me wanna ctb A LOT.

Honerable mention goes to recovery mmo junkie since I've never been able to identify with a main character so much until that show. It was nice for once for an anime to be about a female neet instead of a male neet like tons of other animes.

Puella Magi Madoka Magica.

Having grown up with magical girl shows like Winx Club, it was a truly refreshing take on the genre (even though now a lot of other anime have tried to copy them without realizing what it was that made Madoka work).

Everyone involved was so immensely talented, from the writers, the actors, the animations, the composers, etc. It's simply a brilliant series worthy of all the praise it gets.

Right now it's Gurren Lagann because I feel like Simon so much being so timid and then how the odds are stacked against them so much but they still persevere somehow. I love how hopeful the show is despite the hell scape setting they have to live through.

Death note. I've been obsessed with it for 6 years now (since I first watched it). Partly because of my favorite character (Near, I think he reflects my personality so much) and I really like the aesthetics, how they approach literally every humanity discussion in it, etc.

these are my favorites because I hate modern anime / any anime made after probably 1980 - 2007~ish 2010~ish + some of these are my nostalgic favorites because I either saw them on Toonami, heard about them in school, or checked them out at the library

One piece and Shugo Chara. When I was younger my uncle would come over to check up on my family and I and would give me a hard drive full of cartoons/anime to keep myself occupied. They were the first animes that I watched and have a special place in my heart since then.
