There's people who ruin things in every community. I understand being fixated on true crime, even relating to the mentally ill people committing the crimes. But when people start praising the perpetrator and wishing to be like them is where it gets weird. It's whatever to relate to the perpetrators ideology but still understand that what they did was wrong and shouldn't be repeated. Some people simply shouldn't be in the TCC.

I wouldn't necessarily compare SaSu to TCC though.

Criminology and psychology are fascinating fields. What drives the mind – nevermind what is the mind – and what causes it to obey or stray? How egregiously? How so? It's so very interesting; we've been debating it since thousands of years. Plato's Republic, Biblical stories of thieves, the Ea-nasir complaint tablet... it's almost part of human nature to be a bit bad.
So, we cannot help but be interested. It's part of our existence and it's part of nature to an extent which morals make us to overcome (we are made like God, as I follow, but with the capacity to choose His way – community and unity – instead of the animalistic urge of "mine, mine, mine").
Super cool stuff.

But where I begin to have a problem with it is the commodification and "meme-ifying" of it – like, that podcast, My Favorite Murder or so? What the heck kind of name? That's in... extremely poor taste.
I like Bailey Sarian and her contents, but I think she can lean a little to the meme-ish side of things at times. She does seem to respect the fact that people literally died, sometimes gruesomely, sometimes severally, but I don't think that really... deserves a silly theme song.

It's a fine line to walk, and interest and intrigue is natural. But at the end of the day, these are real stories, real people, and real endings of lives in often disgusting and heinous ways. I wouldn't ever call myself an "enthusiast" about it or say it's a "hobby" – but am I interested? Weirdly morbidly but respectfully curious? Yes.

its interesting to say the least, and honestly it disgust me how some few people just ruined the TCC image as a whole. i used to be interested in such cases and wonder why they did it, what went throught their mind, what made them to do it, and whats their life before it, but not to an extend i would worship them and be obsessed with it. TCC is just filled with edgy corny teenager chuds (for a lack of better words) nowadays.

I don't feel part of or interact with the 'community' but, I go through periods of being interested in true crime. As I understand it- it's predominantly women who are part of these communities. One theory is that we use these cases to be more aware of the threats around us. In that sense- I think it's a good thing.

Plus- couch detectives have actually been intrumental in getting further in cold cases. In the really tragic case of the disappearance of Marion Barter, the police force massively failed in investigating the case. It took 'amateurs' to reveal it seemed highly likely she got involved with a known and convicted conman, Ric Blum. Her fate is still unknown but, at least her daughter got some answers.

It also- hopefully makes other people aware that these confidence tricksters and romance scammers do exist. So- if either them or a friend gets entangled with one- hopefully, they will be more on their guard.

I don't think it can be all together healthy to be interested in this stuff. Speaking from a personal perspective too. Although, I doubt there are too many people who want to emmulate the perpetrator. For me, it's a kind of twisted reasurance in some ways. That- maybe my life has been dull and limited but, at least I didn't end up being abused.
