Who knows? I'm just gonna say some things.
TL;DR version up front:
General
Good Will Hunting
No Country for Old Men
Mindwalk
Sci-fi
Alien
The Thing
Horror
Wolf Creek
The Devil's Rejects
Action
The Bourne Identity
The Bourne Supremacy
Cinematography
Lost in Translation
----
Good Will Hunting is never not good. I rewatched it recently and it's not just nostalgia talking. It's a goddamn great movie. And Minnie Driver? Wow! The whole of the main cast was great, and she was nominated for an Oscar, but I'll never feel like she gets enough credit for her performance in that movie. And it has one of the best ending of any movie ever made. Endings are tricky but this one is hits it on the head.
I don't know what it is about No Country for Old Men but I never get tired of watching it. It just does it for me. Something about its lack of a score is fantastic, too. Came out the same year as There Will be Blood, another great one. Though I'm not sure I'd call that one a favorite. It's just a solid piece of cinema.
I think I should mention Mindwalk. It's a hard one to find, if you're looking to buy it. Thankfully, no one seems to care enough about it to delete the handful of uploads of it on Youtube, one of which I'd strongly suggest watching.
I'm suddenly gonna become genre-specific:
For sci-fi, it's a toss-up between Alien and The Thing. They're probably on par, in my book. Great flicks.
For horror, it's a tough call. Wolf Creek stands out, in my mind. The Devil's Rejects as well. I think that's all I've got at the moment.
For action, The Bourne Identity and The Bourne Supremacy are standouts.
One final thing I'll say is that I think Lost in Translation has some of the best cinematography you'll ever see.
