Discussion What's The Story Behind Your Username and Profile Picture?

So mine's from a random episode of Drake & Josh which I was a huge fan of as a teen. This famous girl passes out and falls into a trash bin, and when Drake tries to pull her out, she goes, "Don't touch me, I'm famous." For some odd reason, I've never been able to forget it. lol

I didn't even know it was a meme when I picked it. lol





Whereas my profile pic is over 10 years old. I found it on Tumblr after searching "thigh gap" (it was a trend back then), and it immediately caught my attention. I wasn't suicidal back then, but for some strange reason, I sympathized with it so much. I downloaded it, and years later, I found myself relating to it deeply. It's the first thing that comes to mind when I think about suicide. I don't want to win even though I might, if I decided to fight my depression but I can't find a good reason to do it. For me winning feels pointless and wasted effort with no purpose.

 

[Lost in a Nightmare]

I recently changed my name and profile pic so I can tell you why. Originally the name I used was Lost in a Dream, but I changed it to Lost in a Nightmare after being here for many years because honestly that is what my life is and has been for a very long time. Our entire world and universe is like something out of a nightmare too, and I am trapped in it wishing I could destroy it from within.

I made my profile pic to go along with the name using Paint.net. My profile pic was originally album art for Epica, and while I still love Epica, this new one is much more fitting.

I was listening to a song by The Strokes called "Last Nite," hence my username. It's not a favorite of mine. I chose it because I didnt know what else to choose as a username. As for my profile, it's from a movie called "The Man from Earth" (2007), it's among my favorites.

Sasuke is an anime character that I used to watch when I was young from Naruto. So I combined it with this site's name to come up with a handle.

My name was just something I found off of roblox when I was in high school so I just ran with it as an online name. However my profile picture is of Sayori from Doki Doki Literature Club! A horror based "dating simulator" she was one of the best depictions of suicide and depression in any video game ive ever played. She discusses how she couldn't find a reason to get out of bed, she cuts her hair short because she doesnt have the motivation to keep up with it, and she's described as a "messy character" only because she doesn't enjoy getting herself ready. In the game, she confesses to the player and you have the option to friendzone her or to accept her confession. Either way, she kills herself. I adore her character as she is an adorable goofy girl, but with horrible deep depression.

Username is because I'm always having ptsd related nightmares, but the profile pic is from an art trend on Chinese social media. It was tagged for profile icons, so I think I was allowed to snatch it for mine. I'm American, but I absolutely love rednote lol, can't recommend it enough. It feels like a much more positive space than American social media apps, lots of art and cooking and cultural stuff. I love learning, so it always has something fun to learn about. It helps me get my mind off all the horrors. Be warned if you download it though, terms of service are taken seriously and American accounts are watched closely for the smallest infractions, usually best to lurk.

My username is just what I am, I'm from 3rd world and have sadness. Pfp I took from a fake album cover it was posted on Reddit a while back. I really liked it as the moon is too far away and it's all kinda cozy. It's just I liked it.
