I'm not a pro-lifer. I'm just feeling a bit more upbeat today. After seeing the thread on the worst thing about being alive gaining a lot of interest, I thought I'd get some opinions on the best bits. It really helps me to focus on the positives sometimes. However small.

So here are a few of mine

Sunshine on my skin
Morning coffee
Cats
Sex (not that I ever get any)
Clean sheets
Making a real connection with someone new
The ocean
Soap in fancy hotels
Freshly baked bread
Cuddles

I pre-empt a lot of sarcastic responses. Please keep it vaguely on topic. Just helps me sometimes to get away from all the shit the world serves up on a daily basis.

Drugs and sex are probably the only things.

But even then, if you're not careful they can come with their own set of problems; drugs(legal issues, overdose, addiction) and sex(pregnancy, STD's)

Probably should have added drugs to that list. I've never done any of the real hardcore ones. But I've had moly a few times and it's amaaaazing. Not such a fan of weed or alcohol.

True that! It seems almost every pleasure in life, it carries a consequence. Even sunshine on the skin= skin cancer or a sunburn! Eating food- weight gain for most people, certainly for me. I cannot eat much or i balloon out like the girl eating a grape on Willy wanka! My metabolism is not a super one, that's for sure. Making friends is fun too but the consequences could be many there too- like the person could be a covert nut-job! I like this question, but i know there's a fine line between pleasure and pain. Weed seems to be my pleasure of choice now, but even with drugs, not only is there the legal issues, but the fact that with every drug, the dose has to keep being increased to get the benefits. Life is a giant consequence, imo. lol

That's really cool. I used to play guitar and a bit of flute. Very meditative. What type of music do you play?

Good God! Let's eat!.... Best tagline ever

While i'm not a dedicated fan of classical music,
i learn/play to get a better handle of the instrument
i'm working my way slowly towards jazz manouche and cajun fiddle tunes and learning to improvise
in a fusiony kind of way. it all sounds so neat on the cello

i had a nice flute, i mean nice. i basically just stumbled into it, but in the end i just don't
have the wind, i can't quit smoking, have to have something. =(
I gave away my sax not too long ago, as far as reeds go i dig the clarinet, which i didn't have the breath for either.
mostly i'm out of tears so the cello makes a good substitute
i'm getting closer to that singing human voice sound though.

Fair point. But I challenge you to find a single downside to cats...

Right. I'm going out and buying a guitar as soon as these shops reopen. Not sure I can afford a cello! You've inspired me. Thanks... Genuinely!

Just don't let them lick your face!

Man, you got me with the litter box. I just feed the local strays though so don't have to deal with the downsides. I'll let the local gardeners worry about that

My 4/4 cello is a bottom of the line student cello i got for 365 usd <--- had to sell my bass and borrow 100 dollars
the 3/4 size one i bumbled into last year was a rescue job with a broken neck, got that for 200 usd
cecilio cellos are pretty affordable, most people have more money than me.
as long as your low end student cello is set up correctly, standard larsen strings, d and a, which come to about 100 usd, should do nicely.
bows are tricky though, you want to find a bow that moves, weighs good/right. the bow carries sound and affects projection and note stability.

Being able to experience the natural world, although parasitic human behaviour means it's slowly getting harder to experience it in its purest form. Even our night skies are slowly being tainted by satellites.

For me, it would have to be weed. Smoking it relaxes me and I don't think about suicide when I do it either because the only thing on my mind is food to cure the munchies. I don't have to worry about legal problems since it became legal for everyone to use 2 years ago where I live. I suppose weight gain could be the biggest consequence due to the munchies, but I'm able to lose any extra weight that I gain at work.

Just outside of my basic needs of food, shelter, clothing, and what not. It would just be video games, porn (I've cut back a lot because I don't want to torment myself with things I know I will (probably) never get), and then some other stuff. All in all, video games are mainly for passing time and copes during a shitty existence. I still rather be nonexistent and dead than alive and experiencing (temporary) pleasure with a of mundane and then some downright awful times. Life just isn't worth it for everyone.

My 3 trillion cells.

They never stop working. They're always there. They exist so that I can live.

I just really like thinking about my cells.
