what'll do with your phone and computer before you ctb?

i'm thinking about what i'm going to do with my phone, since the last thing i have to do is call an uber and schedule my goodbye email to send a day later. i'll most likely have to keep it on me while i'm ctbing, but if i survive the attempt i'll need it to be able to go back home. i have a lot of stuff on my laptop but mostly my games and music. i guess i'm still attached to it even though i'm actively planning my suicide. i figure that my sister can sell my laptop for some money if i leave it at home, since it works pretty well. will it be easy to delete your data?

Well, I'd probably make sure to wipe my iPhone so no one could read my journal or have access to my Chat GPT, or look at my photos, etc. Nothing criminal — it's just personal stuff. I'd probably just give my computer to my friend; he'd love a better gaming rig.

I am planning on deleting anything on either that I won't need or don't want anyone to find. Like I had an audio journal, deleted my entries. I'll definitely clear my history and get out of everything and wouldn't leave this site up. But I want my phone to be of use for someone helping with my affairs. Like I plan on having pictures saved I like of me. I want someone to be able to get into my Instagram bc I'm thinking about drafting a final post that they can then post for me. On my laptop, I have all info for someone to take over my affairs so they'd need that. And I don't want anyone to access like they'd have to have my password. So I'm going to delete everything except necessary to help others close out my affairs and such. All my contacts are in there & I might even record a goodbye memo. And also yeah, if my attempt fails or I back out, I want both my phone and computer in working order with the essentials I'd still need to use. When others are done with my personal stuff on there, they can reset to factory and resell. People can Google easily how to do that.

huh, never thought about that. maybe with my phone i'll wipe it since there isn't anything sentimental on there besides some art and writing. save it on a drive just it case whatever plan i choose doesn't work, and so no one doesn't look through my phone to find my socials or me on this forum. my mother will most likely keep my phone regardless of what i want or do

i'd need to return my school issued laptop, to save my mother some of the hassle. my personal chromebook on the other hand— it's pretty old (~ 7 years), it won't sell for much and nor do i have anyone close to give it too besides maybe a friend. but they already have their own stuff, maybe donate it library or give it to said friend. if i do sell it, i might as well get something else useful with the money and ship some retro pc case to a different online friend who into that.

there's a lot of data on it, it'll be a bit hard -emotionally- seeing it go if i don't back it up on a drive even though it'd be pretty pointless.

i have this pen tablet and another friend who's been getting into art. ha! i still remembering him getting frustrated about how to draw with it. a little insensitive to do that to them (all of them) but i hope they're able to get over it.

I would delete all of the personal things I don't want anyone to see, leave my devices out and write the password to them on a small note. Then I would leave a note probably in my phone for my family to find stating my wishes with what I want done to my body after I die, I wouldn't want a funeral. I would want to just be cremated and disposed off like dust.

I have a PC and phones. I will delete everything unnecessary — screenshots, adult videos, browser history, passwords for Discord and for the email for this site. I will leave the PIN codes for my devices so they can be found. I basically have nothing to hide that would require destroying data storage, so I decided to leave almost everything untouched.

On the desktop, I will leave a document with instructions on where to find passwords, which accounts are valuable — Steam, Epic Games, Minecraft, maybe a site where I watch movies/series. Maybe suicide notes and video files where I write notes by hand (I will have several letters for different purposes: for the police, to distract attention, for what to do next). This is so that my case isn't investigated with attempts to find a culprit. So that it's clear I am doing everything myself and no one is forcing me.

I'd personally delete pretty much everything aside from what I'd be okay with family seeing post mortem, and then completely unlock my devices after that so they don't need a password to be useable. As for social media, many platforms now have scheduled posts, so I could just pre-schedule a goodbye post to be the day or so after the CTB has had more than enough time to be sucessfully finished.

OH! I have thought about this literally SO much, because I don't want anyone implicated in my death nor do I want some kind of investigation and electronics is the first they can check. I've been told by friends in related business that if it's an obvious clear-cut case from CTB, then they won't usually investigate further, but I do worry a lot still. I plan to delete anything mildly incriminating, as I don't want anyone blamed for my death from friends or search methods.

I'd delete whatever browsing history and passwords that connect the device to SaSu, to protect it just in case, tho won't factory reset in case I survive, or in case others want to know what I browsed (excluding SaSu pages ofc)

PS: I'll also need to password protect all SaSu screenshots and put it in a 7z file... to prevent it from being accessed by others

I agree. DON'T CARE. In fact, somehow part of me wants to just leave all this detritus behind for people to have fun with, or bewilderment with or amazement with. My goal is to leave as big a digital footprint as I can.
