Discussion What would be your “ideal” funeral?

Obviously, we'll be dead by then so we can't really plan it. But if you could, how would it go?

If I ctb, people would probably go, "Oh, such a waste." But I'll completely neglect that for now. I'd like my funeral to be a celebration of my life, rather than a mourning for the loss of it.

I'd ask people to wear their favorite colors (so not limited to black). My funeral will be on a yacht (always wanted to board one, might as well do it in death lol). There'll be wine and dancing and they'd share their happy memories with me (remember, this is a fantasy). I'd like to be cremated and have my ashes casted into the ocean just before the sun sets.

I want there to be alot of Vodka and Rum have it where anyone 16 or older can drink even though you need to be 21 in the US to buy it i think it goes towards consuming too. I want giant balloons filled with bouncy balls and candy as well as a few with fake spiders and gunmiworms mixed in. Everything to be Blue,Black, White,Gold, and Red in color although it would be a requirement that everyone wears their favorite outfit to get in and if they dont they atleast cant wear black. It wont be a sad thing it's one meant to celebrate having lived even though inwould have taken my life.

I wouldn't want my funeral to be expensive. I'm already such a burden in real life, so what's the point of making my parents broke by paying for my funeral? I'd probably just want to be either cremated and thrown into the ocean or have my ashes made into those bio urns I saw one time. Maybe say a speech or two. Idk.

My favored way of burial would be none at all. The most comforting thought would be if my body was just left somewhere in the open for animals to devour and for it to rot away naturally, kind of like they do in Tibet and Mongolia.

Same here. It's a waste of time and money. Cremation and they can do as they please with the urn. Used to think about my funeral alot .. who would come etc etc but now i just don't give a flying fuck anymore.

I feel funerals are solely for the living to mourn their departed loved ones. I wouldn't care what goes on at my funeral as long as my loved ones are comfortable with the arrangements.

Viking funeral: cremation in a boat. I even have the boat --she's a 14', 125-year-old basket case I haven't gotten around to restoring. Wrap me in my horse's blankets, with his tack beside me, and a bag of carrots for me to greet him with when I get to the other side. For tinder, use my unpublished manuscripts. Light it off and let me go out with the tide.

More pragmatically, I've already pre-paid for cremation and left instructions to dump my ashes in a waterfall near my mother's house. No service, only close family to attend --at most, all five of them. That's pretty ideal, for me. The only improvement would be aquamation, but we don't yet have that in WA.

I don't want one. I know all of about six people so it would just be embarrassing. I definitely want to be cremated, but just get rid of the ashes quickly because I find those urns pretty creepy. Plus my mum recently had to scatter my grandma's ashes and wound up spilling them on my stepfather by accident when she went to go spread them out in nature. He was freaking out and I don't even blame him.

Good point. Idk why but in my fantasies, I always had enough money to sponsor the whole thing (even though in real life, I'm broke). Are those bio urns the ones that grow into a tree? Considered that but then I thought since a part of me goes into making the tree, what if a piece of my life remains in Earth? Completely paranoid and illogical, but I don't want to risk it. I want it all to end with my death.

Most funerals are for helping family/friends grieve, so my only wish is that it's cheap. Funerals shouldn't be expensive and I don't want to be a burden in death, as long as it's hella cheap and it helps the people I care about it's fine with me
