I've been shutting down since 2015, and no one has actually noticed! I will keep Twitter, (last post: 2017!) because in a civil emergency (Haiti, 2010) etc. Twitter is the quickest emergency response network.

Even if I don't want to be dug out of the rubble, I will help others trapped with me.

Like someone else said, I'll probably close down my social media before hand. My Facebook I've set up so someone else can access it when I'm gone as I'm sure my family and some old friends might want some pictures and memories off of it. But in the last year or so I've not posted really on anything and I won't be making any grand goodbye post. I just want to go quietly, I fear that if I post someone will alert the authorities or something like that and I'll be found and stopped.

I'll be deleting my fb months beforehand ideally. People forget you existed and move on easily once you drop off the radar that way. I really don't want my profile to be viewable indefinitely after I'm gone. Also the thought of being memorialized makes me physically ill, as others have shared. I'd just like to skip out unnoticed, from fb as well as from life.

I don't really use any social media. Why should i even do a last post there?
So people will circlejerk each other off after someone passed, posting in how much they would've cared if you just had reached out? No, fuck that. Most of them are bunch of karma farmer who need there daily fix of self-worth boost.

For those who really cared about me, I prefer not to leave anything behind, because they would only suffer even more if I were to strongly emphasize the argument why "taking the bus" was my only way out. This would make the already traumatic event even more persistent.
It is of course situational, but for my life, where people are not so close to me, it is the right step to minimize the suffering of both parties.
