Most people just pretend to be happy in my opinion.

Many people lack the insight to understand that there is something fundamentally wrong with society.
Some people do understand their is something fundamentally wrong with society, and believe the problem can be fixed.
A few less people know that society is sick and needs to a reset, but believe a reset will fix the problem.

I believe that this is the natural order of things. You can hit the reset button hundreds of times. You will get the same result each time.

A portion of the world's population lacks the ability to have a intrapersonal relationship. It's all random, race, gender, biological sex, creed, etc, etc have nothing to do with it. Therefore, they can't really realize that other people have bad lives or worse lives than theirs.

i think a lot more people are like us than let on. there's this cult of happiness in our culture where the most grievous sin is sadness/depression/frustration/angst/confusion etc.. you're supposed to be all happy all the time and if you're not then you're a loser or a weirdo or a freak, a heretical outcast.
God forbid your eyes open and you admit to suffering; only isolation awaits those who've stepped outside the fluorescent light.

I don't think most people are happy. Just look at the people in Africa-do they seem to be having a good time? Of course, Africa is a huge continent and there are many diverse groups there. I am talking about the poor people though.
Maybe we just lack the resilience that is needed to face life-or we are more nihilistic. Or we simply don't have the will to live.
Either way, it doesn't change much-there is a lot of peace in death if you just can't do it anymore. Or many cbt is more common in rich countries with a high life expectancy. If everyone you know routinely lives until 80 or 90, it makes facing life much more scary if you are for example a poor person somewhere and know that the next wave of hunger, infection or war is coming soon. Why kill yourself when you can let life do it for you in due time?

2 girlfriends close to 6 figure Salary. Life just isn't my cup of tea though. I know homeless old people who as far as I can tell are much happier than people I know worth tens of millions.

Some people pretend to be happy, some cope better, some are in the same boat. It's probably a small but growing minority.

I know there are people who have it unimaginably worse than me. The way I see it, suffering is suffering no matter what the causation. Pain comes in many different hues - poverty, starvation, cancer, depression, being worked to death, warfare etc. Countless ways this world can torture us. Cruel and unusual from the minute we were born.

I'd say a small portion of the population think like us and have truly experienced what a bad life is. Most of the people do live in a bubble that things are fine, good, and they delude themselves to believe that life is great and ignore the bad shit that goes around.

There are a lot of people that may have it worse than us. Some can cope better and deal with it, while others end up in a bad state of mind. Lots have had bad childhoods, but found a way to make their life better and move on. Having a great support network helps, having tons of distractions so you won't fall into despair mode is a wonderful thing to have.

The product of our environment shapes our experiences in life, for better or worse. Money can't absolve our depression, money can buy you a distraction to keep your mind away from the negative stuff in life.

It's hard to say for sure, but probably a larger percentage than we realize.
