First of all I'd like to mention that I did in deed find two related threads:
  • https://sanctioned-suicide.net/threads/what-is-your-favourite-suicide-related-movie.66525/
Maybe I'm placing too much importance on the choice of words here but I neither like to post into threads asking for "best" or "favorite" suicide movie/scene. Really not even sure what that is supposed to even mean. I'm curious in what scene did kind of stick with you, popped up in your mind every now and then. I'm aware though that those two and this thread are overlapping. Also please share what makes that scene stand out for you personally.

For me it was a scene from "A Few Good Men" where that military guy dresses up in his uniform and shoots himself in a mirror. To find that scene I even had to look for the movie name in imdb first. The movie itself means nothing to me. It's dramatic and well executed but also a bit dull and superficial (like most Tom Cruise movies, I suppose). But that scene - maybe because I saw it around the age of ten had a lasting impression on me. It's the ideal implementation of a suicide - romantic, brave, well-dressed, quick, no fuzz, no whining, no hesitation.

Being new here I wonder does the forum have dedicated search function? I only found this feature where you get threads suggested while entering a post title. Google (f*** Google) seems to ban this forum entirely. DuckDuckGo and Yandex work, though - you have to specify the forum domain with the site keyword "site:sanctioned-suicide.net movies".

And if we're already talking about search engines and movies I'd like to share with you a little trick how you can find pretty much any movie online for streaming using that search enigine from Russia with headquarters in Amsterdam. You have to search for [movie name] and rekcoltup (← reverse first). You'll find pretty much anything. (Do yourself a favor, though, and install an AdBlocker first or you'll be bombared with ads popping up.)

The forum does have a search function, only you need a few more posts to be able to access it. I wish you the best.

Without a question it has to be old man Brooks from Shawshank Redemption. I could go on about why but all you have to do is watch the scene and you will get it.

I see myself in this character. There's something metaphorical, and saddening in watching an abused child poison their cat, and then themselves, alone.

That scene is as infamous as it is iconic. But it is also a bit over the top for me to relate to it personally. Also it involves a murder.

This scene (skip to 2:50) was really hard to find and the title on YouTube doesn't reference the movie. It's from the movie "My Suicide". It's on Netflix and the movie is about the main character who for a class project is going to film his suicide. He basically films everything happening in his life leading up to it with his video camera and during a normal day of school the class walks in to the gymnasium to find another student, who was a friend of the main character, dead by hanging. It comes out of nowhere and really caught me by suprise when I first saw it. It's pretty graphic and the despite being a movie about suicide it was more of a comedy up until that point and then the tone completely shifts. I highly recommend watching the full movie.

That one for sure! Must have had some sort of an impact on me as I watched it early in my life as well and was touched by it. Maybe I didn't relate to it personally as the portrayed problems the guy found himself entangled in didn't match mine. I think his reason was that he wanted to persue art while is estranged and cold-hearted father forced him to a different path. I do have and especially had my issues with my father but not of that kind at all.

I'd be really interested in why you relate to those scenes. Why and how did they touch you?
another good one is the hours

That one is tough to watch. It made me think of how the touching scenes and movies always (at least for me) symbiotically combine happiness and humor with sadness and melancholy. I find this concept also applied on bill boards next to the highway showing people who (supposedly - not actually) died of a car accident due to using the cell phone, DUI or whatever. They are always smiling and seem happy on the picture.

tbh, I am an emotional person. I am always relieved when I see someone in a film have the choice of death, when life is no longer worth living.

I really wish I could watch this movie. But in my country it is not on netflix and I can't order a dvd. But man this is a masterpiece.

Reminds me I need to rewatch a movie actually, I'm sorry for a spoiler (though in a topic like this, most are, not to mention this movie's title). Dominik's death in Sala Samobójców still sticks with me. Not a pretty death at all and filled with emotion and regret.

Lovely, sad movie. Hard to watch. The scenes following his death are perfectly executed to me as well.

Someone else mentioned, but Koe no Katachi - I go back to watch the beginning, or I used to.

Not a movie, but an episode from Paranoia Agent. All of episode 8 is a masterpiece.

And then an episode from Durarara, just an attempt though.

And I'm sure there are more but my memory just seems to go away anymore.
