What is/was your motto in life?

What is or was your motto in life? A rule that you lived by, something that encapsulated your attitude towards yourself, others, and life in general.
I lived by two rules or mottos. The first one was; YOU REAP WHAT YOU SOW, which is basically rule of karma if you believe it or not. A reminder not to do bad deeds or they might come back to you in this or next life. My second motto was; YOUR EGO IS NOT YOUR AMIGO, that was to remind myself to be humble and not assuming about myself and others.

Got this from the book top 5 regrets of the dying. "Live a life that is true to myself, not what others expect of me." If you see all these quotes it makes you really think. Those poor souls that walked this rock for 80+ years and have ALL of these regrets but it's all to late. That's why I am so happy I can CTB in peace and knowing I don't have to regret anything.

I'm not sure I really have any mottos to live by except maybe "no matter how bad this person is, I'm still the worst person I know".

I'm not a fan of the "treat others as you want to be treated" rule simply because there are actually plenty of cruel people in the world living by this rule who actually want to be treated poorly, and I'm one of them.
