for me, the worst part of death is the idea that I will leave my loved ones without me. the terrible part of death is the pain it leaves for those who are left behind.
Dying is easy, living is harder.
there is no best part of being death because it's not good, bad, or indifferent. It just simply is. nothing to particularly look forward to, but nothing to be afraid of, either.

I have nothing/no one dear to me so i dont care about what i left behind. Mostly just hurtful things&abusive people

the worst part is the dying process, pain and the unknown

The best thing that i hope from death is nothingness, an exit and the least pain/quick one.

if thats true i leave as soon as i can

but even that seem like wishful thinking to me the more i search to find out

The best part of death for me is leaving all my pain and struggles behind.

The worst part is that my pain now belongs to my family.

Worst: others potentially feeling pain due to your death, not knowing about the Afterlife, potential pain while dying, etc.

Best: free of suffering. Freedom from the pain of the external world.

Best: death is the solution to all my problems, the end of existence. It makes all life meaningless.

Worst: it is guaranteed that you are not gonna be happy anymore.
Best: Suffering ends.
I guess people feel they are not gonna be happy anymore even if they live, that's why they choose suicide. So worst may not be applicable. But there is that dread, ending of hope in suicide that makes it official: You are not gonna be happy ever.

The pain that comes before it and yeah, leaving those who love you behind. In my case, my dad. He will literally be "destroyed" until he finally dies. (if he doesn't happen to have a heart-attack or a stroke as soon as he finds out I'm not part of this world anymore)

As regards the best of Death, well, not existing and having to deal with life problems sounds really awesome!

the best part of death is (hopefully) the idea of not suffering any more.

the worst part is never doing the things I love again such as swimming, yoga, music etc.

Worst part: The unknown. This shit life is all I understand about whatever existence this is.

Best part: The unknown. Hey death is an adventure and we get to learn the mystery of life. It's a double edge sword.

I think even if we know all hope is gone and suicide is the logical conclusion to a 'life of suffering', there is still the grief of a 'live of contentment' never lived.

Worst part about dying for me would be about how my family and loved ones are going to take it.

Best part is that I truly believe that all my pain and misery will be over.

People need to stop confusing dying with death. Dying happens while you're still alive, so it's one of the many shitty parts of life, not a part of death.

True that. Yeah, the dying part and leading up to it is no fun. It's the end result that is worth it. Non existence just sounds so amazing.

The worst part of death I guess like many people have said is what you leave behind. My poor poor children. All the pain and misery Ive experienced in life I will be leaving on them. My poor parents.

But the best peace is the peace. Oh the eternal peace. End to all this bullshit. Life is truly incredibly pointless and meaningless. Just such a waste. To be away from it all is truly incredibly inviting. The best part is just the peace. That would be so incredible. The eternal nothingness. Like when you fall asleep. Its all gone. Couldnt be anymore beautiful.

Best: Being free from experiencing all of the suffering, pain and cruelty of the world

Worst: Never being able to experience anything again but it's not like i'd be conscious to lament something like that

The best and worst can be summed up in several words: Ripple effect.

I've helped 1000s of charities do more with less and leaving the world a better place then I've found it in such a short space of time on earth.

The worse part is the ripple effect on family, friends and the community. They lost out on a good thing because they used and abused me until there was nothing left for me to give.

Worst parts:
  • Transferring my sorrow to my family. They'll never recover. Sure, life goes on, but the pain will be in their hearts forever. I don't want them to suffer, but I also never asked them to bring me into existence.
  • No more hope. Hope can be a beautiful thing. But like a mirage in the desert, it's hard to know if it's real or not until you see for yourself. Still, the prospect of life ever improving is enticing. We read stories about how that one antidepressant or ECT treatment helped put someone's depression into remission, but when that doesn't work for us, it makes us feel more despaired. We all want to feel better, and if that means waiting some years before trying some new medication or a novel treatment, we'd do whatever we can to run those years out.
  • Fearing the unknown. There's no empirical method to find out what's after death. It's not like we can ask dead people what they're feeling. I know that consciousness is the emergent property of some mysterious biological process, and without the brain there is no consciousness. But you can't really know with absolute certainty what's beyond the horizon. It can be heaven, or hell, or Narnia, or Santaland. It can also easily be oblivion. Or someone's sperm fertilizes another's egg and that zygote has to (un)fortunately develop into a sentient living thing like me. After all, I'm in this body because that happened. I fear this version of reincarnation happening till the end of time.
  • Cannot make a difference anymore. Changing someone's life for the better doesn't have to be because of some big discovery. Actions as simple as donating blood, buying a gift, donating money to a charity, or even saying a kind word to a stranger. I feel like I can still make an impact, however small, that helps someone or a group of people out there. I'd be proud to participate in as many clinical trials as possible to help advance our knowledge and come closer to effective treatments for our diseases. I don't know if I'll die before I make meaningful changes to our world and help my fellow strugglers.
Best parts:
  • No more pain. Pain must have began evolving some 500 million years ago. Pain has beneficial purposes: it tells us something is wrong, and our existence may be impacted. It must have helped our ancestors, otherwise why did nature select it? But we don't have a button to turn off pain, and it has many kinds and triggers. And despite an exponential increase in knowledge and amazing advances in biotechnology, scientists are still pretty clueless about how pain works and what can substantially reduce if not disable it. This is especially so for psychiatric disorders. Thankfully, in the U.S., "an understanding of mechanism is not required for regulatory approval." But that makes discovering a new and effective drug like a needle in the haystack. How long should I bear this pain until a working treatment is made? 10 years? 20? 30? Meanwhile, I can drink something like N or SN and die and not have to worry about anything anymore.
  • No more worries. "How will I live? Will I go homeless? How can I make more money? What if I go broke? What if my job gets replaced by AI? How will I finish 8 hours of grueling work today?" All of those questions go away with death. The never-ending chase after money and its necessity in this world has led to both good and evil consequences. Elon Musk has so much money, an adult janitor in the U.S. needs to work 90,000 lifetimes before having the billionaire's net worth. Globally, there are 62.5 million people who have at least USD$1 million. If each billionaire donates just 2% of their net worth, the whole world would benefit from the $262 billion donated. Imagine how much we can advance our knowledge in medicine with this money. There is so much wealth inequity. I know capitalism can lead to lots of good, but the wealthiest of us needs to help the poorest of us.

best is definitely the mental pain finally stopping, not having to worry about my potential future

worst for me is not knowing what comes next and leaving close ones behind and them grieving over me. first reason it's mostly why i'm still here, i'm terribly scared of the unknown
