I've seen people saying this across posts and Im not sure what it means, i think it is in relation to overdosing, can someone explain it please?
When people say something is overkill, they mean it's way too much. Like if one pill will work, and you decide to take 50, that's overkill.
The idea is that if you take way too much (overkill) it can have negative side effects. For example, taking the 50 pills instead of one is probably going to make you nauseous and throw up. Best case this is just very unpleasant but still effective, worst case you throw everything up and fail.oh i see. but if one would work anyway, then taking 50 wouldn't really matter because it does the trick for one
but does it actually do harm if you overkill? like is it bad?
To be fair there are combined methods that seem pretty reasonable. Charcoal and N for example or some people take something to knock them out while doing partial.Something like taking 20 g of pentobarbital with a Debreather on your face and a rope around your neck. Seen posts like that lol.

.
N and debreather also seems somewhat reasonable to me (maybe dangerous in case you start to puke??)
@sellfish, I think the term originated in the nuclear weapons "race" — when the US had enough weapons to kill the entire population of the USSR 17 times, that was overkill. It's got negative connotations, because it's expensive, complicated, unnecessary and might backfire. Like bringing an assassin to Switzerland in case Dignitas goes kablooey the day you arrive.
To me, adding another method to N only makes sense if you're not sure your N is pure enough.
Pretty much everyone here has summed up what overkill is and for my definition, it is something that is excessive, whether it would be preparations, the method(s), the effort, and amount, and more.
For example, this video titled, Det Ultimate Selvmord (translates to the ultimate suicide), albeit fake, shows an example of an overkill suicide attempt (the guy combines 10 methods in his attempt).

The video is fake right?
