It's been such a long time since I knew what happiness or joy was or felt like. I don't even know if I have ever known it - yet I see others around me experience it often and take it for granted...going on holidays, getting married, going on a date, having children, buying a new car, new home...even simple things like playing and walking their dog. It's all completely foreign to me....and even if I tried I would not have the opportunity and couldn't afford such things anyway.

I also feel like moments of happiness have been fleeting. I tend to think we need to be relaxed and free of worry enough to experience happiness for a reasonable length of time. The problem I tend/ tended to have was- any moment I was happy about something was quickly followed by worrying about something else.

There was even the worry that finding myself in a high mood (which was rare) would likely not last and- wouldn't that just make the inevitable fall back down all the worse?

I think happiness tends to link with feeling hopeful- which doesn't seem common in suicidal people.

It coincided with a natural gratitude when I used to experience it too. One would kind of feed the other. Probably, my happiest moments were around other people. Which is ironic- seeing as I prefer to isolate now. But, I do remember feeling so grateful to have certain people in my life. Of course, the pain of losing them eventually put me off seeking out more moments like that.

I hope you find it, happiness does exist and can be achieved - try doing something fun like video games or spending time with those you love.

I think happiness is not being afraid. Or at least it's a very large component of it.

But I think a large portion of society either deludes themselves with fantasy notions of safety and security in life. Or they straight up distract themselves and ignore the stuff that causes them terror.

Happiness is when you actively want to live your life, know why you want it and enjoy doing it despite all the "minor inconveniences". In my opinion, of course.

I've rarely felt it. Only now do I realize it's something you need to work toward. You need some sense of stability. You need people; family and friends. Enough money to continue that stability. I had those things for an enormous stretch of my life and I wasted the opportunity.
In fact, I was often angry.
Perhaps some of us are not able to pursue happiness. Mental illness or whatever.
The worst torture is looking back and knowing how to do things correctly.

happiness is a state of being content and glad ig, I've sometimes felt it when seeing users in a Tor chat... who I've not seen for a while, and getting to chat with them... when petting a cat, and when eating foods I quite like.

I have no idea. Used to be a people pleaser, so happiness for me was literally just pleasing people in exchange for being liked and appreciated. It was fun and fulfilling until my whole self-worth tied into how useful I was, and how well I could make others laugh. It was pathetic to say the least. Eventually got exploited and discarded like an old rag, a fate I saw coming a long time ago. Turned to substances, pornography, self-help books, casual fling, hobbies, academics, careers, but they all found their way back into the desire to be belong and admired.

Now I just isolate myself, no drugs, no sex, no friends, no jobs, and barely pass school. Moving around like a living corpse pretend everything is fine and dandy. Still manage to go to a few social events here and there to prolong my suicide, but I'm not feeling anything at all.

Bro,happiness stems from deprivation. If you never existed, you would not care or need happiness.
Happiness feel amazing but it is not real

1)More the hunger, more the happiness from eating a favourite food.
2)More the loneliness, more the happiness from petting a cat
3)More the time elapsed to dseeing your friends in a tor chat, more the happiness in chatting with your friends.
All the 3 examples of happiness you mentioned are relief from negative state.

However there is another form of happiness where you are not in a negative state(but in a neutral state) but that form of happiness is also pointless. It is akin to creating desires(Pleasure receptors) when there is no need to

I can relate, it's also been a while since I last felt genuinely happy. Sure there's still the temporary dopamine I get from buying stuff etc, but that's it. I hope u can experience happiness someday
