I mean if humans could press a button or touch somewhere in the body that would immediately result in a painless death. The system would have no choice but to change because anybody could ctb at any instant. Suicides would drastically increase.I think this might result in a world that actually looks for solutions to problems rather than spout pro-life bullshit. There would be more focus on mental health and actually helping people that have mental illnesses, trauma etc rather than just saying meaningless statements like "it'll get better" and "you're not alone". People with physical illnesses and/or chronic pain would also be likely to be treated better considering that anyone in the world could just kill themselves whenever they want. Suicide wouldn't be so stigmatized like it is today. Or maybe I'm being too optimistic; humans always find a way to fuck up everything. I would love to hear your thoughts.

You put way more thought into this than me. I just thought "wouldn't that be cool."

They'd probably just invent some way to prevent you from doing that unfortunately with how anti suicide humanity is. I wish I could just combust like a Minecraft creeper.

That sounds pretty nice, actually. Not just the death part, but the societal impact it would have.

I've always wished for that, I hate how our existence doesn't come with an permanent offswitch to instantly prevent all future suffering. It's horrible how we were so harmfully burdened with the ability to exist yet suicide is purposely made so inaccessible, it'd be such a relief to have the option to just cease existing in peace.

If we did, I would have used it sometime when I was in school to save myself from having to get out of bed.

The brain stem if properly destroyed is like an off switch button. This is why people aim at it when CTB'ing with gun, its quick, very lethal and painless.

I think about this often, I really believe the world would be for the better if something like that existed.

I don't think it would make much of a difference as far as society doing more to help people. Society doesn't really care about suicidal people. It's all lip service. People can already kill themselves now. If someone says that they are going to kill themself, they just lock them up for a few days. They don't do anything to help some one improve their situation so that they won't kill themselves in the future even if they ask for help. They could try to address the root causes of suicide and offer practical help to people now, but they don't want to invest the time and money necessary to do this.

Our cells have this ability. If they realize something is wrong they will undergo apoptosis, which is essentially cell suicide. If our cells can do it individually then why can't we? We're just a big collections of cells.
