pros:

1. almost half the suicidal people in this world will probably give life another chance, knowing that they will always have the option to choose a dignified and painless death when they want, after honest self introspection, without external pressure

2. all current 'suicide prevention' efforts will be redirected to true mental health issues, including the ones that are extremely difficult to solve currently; mental health industry can be financed by the currently 'illegal' drugs

3. most mass shootings / mass suicidal events, and unbelievably irrational wars will be eliminated based on intelligence and true compassion; all hitlers and putins can be transformed into einsteins and hawkins'

cons:

1. 100 to 200 million people might choose to end their lives (just guessing), but this might be substantially less if mental health improves; considering that more and more countries realize that a dignified and painless death is a basic human right, a reasonable transition can be achieved; anyone asking for nembutal or fentanyl would provide proof (?) of premeditated thought, reasonable introspection / analysis, and non impulsivity. canada will allow mental illness for MAID (Medical Assistance in Dying) / VAD (Voluntary Assisted Death) from mar 17, 2023

2. initial wave of suicides might be too overwhelming and traumatic, but I'd predict that the waves will decrease in intensity and eventually stabilize and taper off

3. too many people with power, like politicians, directors (doctors/psychologists), and reporters/editors/writers (media) need to understand true existentialism, or be affected by people with unbearable suffering, to change society's direction



I my be idealistic, unrealistic, cruel, or dispassionate but society must face the toughest existential questions sooner or later, in order to build a solid understanding for a true utopia - last human frontier


ps. I really hope that pro-lifers read our thoughts and help to mitigate the middle ground: offer the highest priority to people who value life, but don't keep the other hostage. show your humanity and compassion as you for to animals

I think there should be some kind of institution or committee in every country that assesses one's mental state objectively and that's able to allow one person access to assisted death. But there will never be such thing because governments need workforce. We still have to do it by shady means.

Euthsnasia come to canada next march for depressed people?

I wanted to live! Have a new beggining in my new home! Watch anime! Collective garden! Support groups! Board game groups! Visit japan! Maybe work again! I wanted to live!!! Changed my name to put abuses behind me...

But I was so scared to bring mould in my new home, I nuked it & everything I own with an home made acid mix abomination. Melted metal sink & acrylic bath, Allergic reactions. Can't take bath. Have to pee in a bowl. Strangled by my own tongue. So dizzy & head acke I can't go out. I still get assaulted anyway, especially gaslighted by anti suicide social services. My organs melting in acid, skin peeling off, eyes, teeth melting...

I must die...

And I'm called a pro lifer troll fear monger for asking how much more pain I must endure if I try SN...

I can't cry, it burns like acid... I can't watch anime... I can barely think read write...

I... Just wanted to finally be healthy... I can't even eat... Lost so much weight... Struggle to cook and eat. At some point I ate 1 raw egg because the nausea and varnish solvent agony in my mouth hurts too much...

If it was just in my head and a happy pill could fix it... it'd be nice. But they lie to shut me up.

Calling the suicide hotline is a trap... No one listen no one care.

My main reason is abuse, the ward denied me foid until I filled a dozen forms about how I'm a bad person and how to improve for others. Thry refused to help.

I wrote stop asking for help & let yourself die.

They liked that.

I believe that no matter what pro lifers would never see things from the point of view of the suicidal unless something happened to make them want to die. Those types of people think that prolonging life is the best thing for absolutely everyone and don't want to come to terms with the fact that for many people, suicide can be a decision which is rational, more rational than continuing to exist when the future just holds more dread and despair. They just don't want to try to understand what suicidal people go through as the truth about life is too painful for the pro lifers to come to terms with.

Of course for me having peaceful methods in the pharmacy would be ideal but in general suicide should be made more accessible for people and should be respected as a personal choice, not something that must always be prevented in every single case. Some people just simply don't want to be here or they find their life circumstances to be unbearable. Trying to force them to carry on existing against their wishes is unfair.

exactly! with time, everyone will eventually have to face their own mortality, but hopefully they'll feel or understand the suffering of their parents or grandparents before that

a painless and dignified death as a basic human right shouldn't be preached to pro-lifers in order to overcompensate, the same way pro-choice people don't need to be preached about how beautiful life is: if life is beautiful to you, I respect your opinion (in fact I'll encourage it) as long as you respect my own opinion, and basic human right
