How much liquid poison would it take? Has anyone ever done it this way? are there any other available pesticides that would work?

That's a dumb idea, and no it won't work, even if you get a rat into your stomach with all its poison and stuff, the human body is very resilient and tough, a simple rat won't be able to do much, if anything, you'll probably just get mildly sick for a short period of time

I thought rat poison makes you bleed on the inside... that sounds painful to me.... i understood that you want to use the poison without the rat?

You do know OP is talking about poison that is normally used to exterminate rodents, and not eating a rat?

Why bother with the cake? Seems an unnecessary complication to me.
You should be aware that most readily available rat poisons have an emetic added, in case of accidental ingestion by humans, and if you use one of those you probably wouldn't die. You would just vomit most of it up.
If, somehow, you do manage to get a fatal dose, you should also be aware that it would be a very unpleasant way to die. Same applies to other kinds of pesticides and herbicides. (Paraquat, for example, which at one time was widely used for suicides.)
Definitely not the best way to ctb.

Huh. Interesting. I wonder why other animals don't throw up when they ingest it. It only works on human dopamine receptors or something?

Apparently rats don't have the vomiting reflex that humans have. I haven't researched the situation for other animals.

Although there are much better ways to ctb, reports show pesticide self-poisoning as one of the leading causes of suicide in parts of the world. But I highly doubt they bothered with the cake.

Rat poison is agonizing. Heard of a dude that died crying with blood coming out of his nose and mouth and writhing in pain.

Most rat poisons on the market today have been formulated to be less dangerous to humans, but even if you do ingest enough to be lethal, it is a very painful death. The method of action is organ failure and internal bleeding, which is agonizing and not quick. This is definitely not a pleasant way to go
