what about iCloud or professional data recovery servicesWhy would it matter anymore? Factory reset if you don't want them to search it
These are justified concerns. When you think there is someone who would go so far there is no other way than destroying your device.what about iCloud or professional data recovery services
In the uk?Police will look through it to see if your death had any foul play involved with it . Then it will return to your next of kin .
But it honestly wouldn't matter because you'd be gone
Any advice as to what to do with laptops? Will resetting it completely erase data?Reset iPhone, snap sim and microwave it. Delete socials / delete iCloud / Apple ID / and any physical storage associated with you eg SSDs, flash-drives etc
Should be good.
If you want to play music in your final moments like me then do all the above steps beforehand and set up a burner profile with spotify playlists. Preparation is key.

Short answer: Yes*Will resetting it completely erase data?
Gotta history of black-hat hacking so my method is probably overkill. Your method is solid.Short answer: Yes*
Long answer: No. For data to be deleted new data needs to be written on top of it. It is essentially marking a page in a hand-written diary to have new writing put on top of it. This is how you can recover old deleted data. Will the police bother to look for this data? Maybe. Hell, the fact that all of your data is wiped might be suspicious.
If you want peace of mind, destroy it, or reformat it and then put in a whole bunch of new data, like huge games. You can also look into command line commands that can reformat and overwrite your disk multiple times if you wanted.
Just destroy the SSHD. If it's too much trouble taking apart, smash it with a sledgehammer.Deleting/formatting = The operating system does not know where to locate the file, so it becomes virtually invisible. Sometimes the file's data remains intact after it's been deleted, but sometimes it is broken into smaller pieces. ~ so not hidden from cyber-forensics/analysts.
Use bleachbit to erase then overwrite your SSD with large files. Games, zip bomb, also known as a decompression bomb or zip of death (ZOD) ~ will overwrite the broken files that are still stored on a standard partition storage device. Delete hidden partitions if you have any.
This is 100%. NSA can get fucked if you put the time to cover your bases privacy wise.
If this is tedious then simply physically destroy the storage device eg microwave, fire, brute force.
Hope this helps.
Thanks for the advice. If I delete my browsing history, is it 100% certain that this will clear it?Deleting/formatting = The operating system does not know where to locate the file, so it becomes virtually invisible. No please follow the instructions I mentioned. Thanks for the advice. If I delete my browsing history, is it 100% certain that this will clear it?
I have no idea how to reformat or put in new data. Will resetting/deleting data a couple of times work? All I want left on my laptop is my Will.Short answer: Yes*

SureWhy not just delete everything, smash / damage the phone completely, and then just throw it in the trash somewhere?? I think it should be enough to do the trick
I would assume the same practice would be for the UK tooIn the uk?
Could you please tell me briefly how to use a zip bomb? What happens if I only use the bleachbit to erase data (as this is the only part I can figure out)?No please follow the instructions I mentioned.
Assuming you're on a Windows machine https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/reset-your-pc-0ef73740-b927-549b-b7c9-e6f2b48d275eI have no idea how to reformat or put in new data. Will resetting/deleting data a couple of times work? All I want left on my laptop is my Will.
I'm not sure what exactly you're concerned about, but I'm assuming it's not illegal stuff considering you're just asking about browser history. The police don't care about that stuff unless you're doing illegal stuff, but you'd be gone so it wouldn't matter would it?Thanks for the advice. If I delete my browsing history, is it 100% certain that this will clear it?
I have already done a factory reset but did some research and it says that it doesn't completely wipe away all data. It's not the police I'm concerned about, it's just my browsing history (suicide methods etc) and any online accounts I have created, forgotten about and haven't deleted.Assuming you're on a Windows machine https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/reset-your-pc-0ef73740-b927-549b-b7c9-e6f2b48d275e

If you're a novice to computers I wouldn't go around downloading zip bombs or things like that unless you know exactly what you're doing. You probably could do the factory reset instructions I linked twice and you'd be good. If all you're worried about is your browser history, clearing that AND deleting cookies (there's plenty of instructions on how to do this if you google it) on top of doing a factory reset is probably good enough.
If you don't know what you're doing, then to me there isn't a reason for you to go downloading zip bombs and totally purging your drives. If you just have embarrassing browsing history just clearing your history and cookies is probably good enough. Besides, if they want to know, they'll look through your network traffic history which you can't get rid of but I don't know if forensics is going to care that much about it.
for computers / laptops i would recommend downloading veracrypt and encrypting all your data / hard drives, its pretty much impossible and too much of a hassle for them to decrypt or try to find the password(use a 20+chars one) for itAny advice as to what to do with laptops? Will resetting it completely erase data?
Your ISP will still have that, unless you used Tor Browser or a VPN.Thanks for the advice. If I delete my browsing history, is it 100% certain that this will clear it?
Or even old school it and just have an MP3 player.Reset iPhone, snap sim and microwave it. Delete socials / delete iCloud / Apple ID / and any physical storage associated with you eg SSDs, flash-drives etc
Should be good.
