I think I had this thought when I read about reports of October 7th. That there is video footage of how children were murdered and their parents had to witness it. Unable to do anything about it.
But the same applies to Palestinian parents who cannot protect their children from Israeli bombs/snipers or starving campaigns.

I think my mom loves me. She does not know how close I was to kill myself last October. It just makes me uncomfortable to think about what would have happened to her if I killed myself. I was then in this horrible acute suicidality clinic and we (the patients) all had a guilty conscience towards our parents. She was visibly was shaken just because I was in this clinic. She also reduced the pressure on me because of college afterwards.

The irony is my family (who doesn't know the truth) was actually mad at my friends for calling the police. Because it frightened them. But I think if they did not call the police, I would have likely drunk the SN.

I also read about an incident in Germany. A dad accidentally drove over the baby carriage of his own baby. The baby died. Holy shit. This must be extremely traumatizing. I think he was in denial afterwards. I also experienced a lot of traumatas and I am also often in denial. The guilt must be unimaginable...

I would love for my parents to stumble upon that discovery.

It's got to mess them up. Even offspring dying of natural causes before their parents I think is distressing for them. But yeah- if they are responsible in some way- I doubt it's something they get over.

I've known of children dying via misadventure- horrible accidents. That's got to be massively distressing for parents and siblings. I imagine it could turn them overprotective towards their other children. Maybe that's why suicides hurt parents so much though. Because I imagine a lot do feel responsible. Whether they are or not.

Really though- it's always going to be a risk- bringing a mortal creature here. It will obviously die at some point. We're maybe too assuming as a species that everything will be ok. That children will automatically outlive their parents.

It also annoys me- that they expose us to all this death. Pets, other family members, them, ourselves. But- heaven forbid we intentionally inflict our death on them via suicide. That seems like an unfair double standard to me. We're simply told we have to accept the death we encounter though, because it's the 'natural way of things'.
