Discussion What happens after a FAILED Shallow Water Blackout attempt?

I've heard shallow water blackout was one of the safest ways to go out, but I'm curious, what happens if you fail an attempt? Are there any serious side effects I should know about? Thank you everyone :)

Side effects will vary on how long your brain lacked oxygen. If u were to be "rescued" relativly quickly there might be no side effects or minor effects like memory loss, problems with reasoning or some minor psychical issues. If it were to happend after a longer time of brain hypoxia and u survived u would most likely be disabled mentally or/and psychically

I've been thinking about using this method. So it is better to make sure no one finds you correct? Because honestly the latter seems even more terrible to experience :(

Like any method u want to make sure no one is around something like a 1 hour might be overkill but generally u want as much time as u can get. 30 min should be good enough similar to partial hanging. Also the actual cause of death is drowning and brain hypoxia is the mechanism that leads u to blackout and die (like hanging or strangulation for example).
