I think humans were created to suffer, or at least that is what it seems like to me. Existence is completely unnecessary, we were all perfectly fine not existing until we were forced to live. But I believe we are only here because of evolution and our purpose as a species is procreation. Life is essentially meaningless. I do not see a point to living.

It's not a stupid question. Everyone, even the non-suicidal types, wonder why we go through all that we go through.

Scientists and atheists say that all living things on Earth are just a biological and cosmic accident and that once life is over it's over.

Today I'm in a, "When I die, just let it be over," mood. I don't like to think of dying and going on to anything that resembles this life.

So, if what the scientists and atheists are saying is true then there really is no big point to all of this.

The only meaning we can apply to our lives is to have contributed to the life quality of future humans who have to suffer through this and what we did to alleviate the suffering of those alongside us who also have to suffer through all of this.

And then on days when I'd like to think there is survival after death, then I wonder if we're all unwittingly apart of some great cosmic plan.

Being mere mortals who have been brought here against our will, we don't know for certain. There's only one way to find out, I guess.

As my grandmother used to say every time someone passed away, "Now they know the big secret."

Lol not a stupid question at all! It's probably the greatest question there is, and great thinkers have pondered it for thousands of years.

There are many different answers to this question, but my preferred answer is simply that there is no point nor any inherent meaning to life.

Meaning isn't a literal, physical thing. It's subjective. Things have meaning TO someone, and that thing will have a different meaning to each person.

It can seem potentially quite bleak to think that nothing happens for a reason, but I find it liberating. Things just happen, and it's up to you to decide what they mean.

There's no point to life. We simply are alive. You weren't put here on earth to do anything.

To quote a wise man "it's like that, and that's the way it is."

I believe in science. Religion and philosophy effected not much over 3000 years but science was so effective in only 500 years. Science gave us smartphones, computers, cars, atheism, atomic bombs, overpopulation, genetic engineering and so much more.

I see no point in living honestly. I think this life consists mainly of suffering, plus we are all going to die so no matter what you say or do while you are alive it won't matter in the end. Rich/poor, stupid/intelligent, pretty/ugly we all have the same destination. I think it's all pointless.

Not to mention that every resource mankind had, somehow managed to fuck it all up, people have become so self centered they don't care about anything, they have destroyed this planet and the others around them.
The lengths suffering and torment have gone to in this world makes everything pointless.

We are the result of millions of years of evolution. The only purpose to life is to replicate and spread itself. It is only because we have developed an awareness beyond our base biological instincts that we question these things at all. That is what I find to be tragic. Though even other animals will commit suicide sometimes, and there's no limit to suffering in the wild, I feel human existence is a different kind of torture. We should have stayed as apes.

There isn't a point. We're just here. We're just a product of evolution.

That can be very freeing or very depressing.. but generally both.

We have been created to suffer, with some anesthesic moments in between... Really, I see no point in living....

Some friends of mine and also my brother have asked me: what if YOU chose to be born and now you are in this challenge called life?

Well, I just find it a waste of time and energy and if I have chosen it, I want to quit...

I personally think life has no meaning whatsoever. Some choose to see this as a bad thing, but I think its a good thing. We can live our lives the way we want and give it our own meaning.

I understand your point... But there is suffering. Suffering without knowing the reason for punishment (meaning) is pure cruel

Suffering is simply another part of life, just as happiness is. Whether you choose to endure it or not is up to you.

I don't think endurance is optional. You are either lucky or unlucky to be well equipped to bear a certain threshold of suffering...

My threshold was surpassed some years ago when I started to hv suicidal thoughts

Yes, you can. Kick the bucket.

Its optional in relation to your suffering, I only really said "up to you" in terms of whether you decide to kick the bucket or not. How much you suffer is not always up to you, most of the time it isnt.

At the human level, I believe the only real reason for existing would be to overcome ones humanness and sever all attachments to this world, in order to evolve beyond human and join the extra-terrestrial evolutionary level which created this one. Naturally, only those who have the gift of recognizing this would ever even be able to consider taking that step. That's a very short description of the bigger picture. Just my opinions / beliefs.

Not a stupid question at all. One of the best questions ever. I question it constantly too. I don't understand why I'm here, when me being here does not matter at all. It doesn't benefit anyone and especially doesn't benefit me. This whole thing is just stupid and useless to me. I don't understand any of this and it makes me so upset. Plus humans make life so complicated when it should not be. Having us slave our lives away for a piece of green paper that doesn't even have real value, it's just a piece of paper that we all pretend has value, we pay for water, healthy foods are so damn expensive, cost of living keeps rising while so many are underpaid, people are racist because for some reason they don't like someone's skin tone, all this other none sense I can call out. We literally live on a floating rock in the middle of nowhere and humans act like this. What the fuck is that? None of this makes sense!!!!!! It's all so stupid!!! Living isn't ideal at all. I can't believe there are people who genuinely like being here; you have to be sick in the head.

evolution into more complex life forms over time to overcome death disease and sickness,
we can bearly do maths in our heads when compared to what a computer can achive in just one second,
learn everything there is to know about mathematics and atoms and molecules
have a complete understanding of science of how the universe works, create music art games programs machines books films life,
reengineer the meaning of life to be a better machine create telepathy, it be a shame if life was a one time thing think of all the thing you'll never get to do, is this universe for us to love and create. really just want to be a much better machine with vastly more intelligence skills and abilities, unless of course we destroy it all first. imagine and create

We weren't "created". Evolutionarily to continue thriving(of course), but life truly has no meaning.

My view is that there is no possibility that life is meaningful unless there is in fact a supernatural/theological aspect to reality. This is because normativity (the designation of things as good or bad, right or wrong, etc.) doesn't really seem to exist apart from the mind. If there is a supernatural world that is basically mind-like underlying our world, or a God with the same relationship, then I can see how there would be meaning to life, because our reality would be ultimately undergirded by something that has normativity as part of its basic nature.

From the most "sensible" reason as of now, i guess we were created by pure chance, and challenged to survive. But i dont know what for, what the ultimate goal of the surviving is. Thats where more theories come in. One could be we have to survive to populate the galaxies over many centuries with how far we progress, and make something cosmic out of ourselves. Another could be we were put on to create god, or become god, via technology, which would lead to former too. Another could be there really is no purpose - just put on this earth out of chance of specific evolution, and trying to survive just to survive. But to be honest i feel there must be something more
