• Hey Guest,

We wanted to share a quick update with the community.

Over the past year, increased regulatory pressure in multiple regions like UK OFCOM and Australia's eSafety has led to higher operational costs, including infrastructure, security, and the need to work with more specialized service providers to keep the site online and stable.

If you value the community and would like to help support its continued operation, donations are greatly appreciated. If you wish to donate via Bank Transfer or other options, please open a ticket.

What does spirituality say about staying alive/recovery vs killing yourself?
Or your flavour of spirituality?

I'm not sure if the typical spiritual stance is "pro-life" secondary to just humanity existing, and I'm not sure if my perspective is currently neutral or clouded by my suicidality

I've been exploring non-dual world view recently

I guess some of the relevent insights for me

All is one, one is all.
There the line between self and non self is a construct created by the mind
Perspective creates reality, you are the stories you tell yourself
Free will is an illusion
Life is suffering but suffering itself is an illusion

It's been really calming and centering esepcailyl given the patchwork of life experiences I have had

Where it falls apart for me is that suicidality itself is a story in my mind that plays, life and death is an arbitrary constructs themselves.
The ambuiguity for living is the same as the ambuguity for dieing, just a different choice to make.
So the guilt on others for dying washes away
We exist but for a brief blink in the timeline of the universe, 10 vs 20 vs 100 years is nothing compared to the billions the universe has been around

The line for me is going in a psych ward - that causes alarm bells else I'm at peace with both the idea of recovery and killing myself (hence why im under the public mental health team currently)

Anyway, curious what others perspectives are
What does spirituality say about staying alive/recovery vs killing yourself?

@StarsAbove cause I value your opinion on this, and I know you have more experience than me in this domain, and others like your input and wisdom
@ConfusedClouds @LRkin you have grounded perspective and i enjoy engaging with you on the recvoery thread and I don't want to overload that thread

It probably depends on what rleigion/teaching you're asking. I've been sifting through a lot of them, mostly on the surface and didn't memorize it all, but there is a thread that goes through it.

You live to grow your soul and experiences. When there is something that you have to overcome before you can grow, this thematic will come back in one form or the other. During life this can look like repeating a pattern of behaviour or landing in similar circumstances over and over again.
When you die without having resolved/overcome the challenge you will have to face it again in the next life.

Many interpret this as suicide just dumping you in the exact same scenario again, but I think it might be a bit more nuanced. Because throughout life you do overcome obstacles, you do learn lessons. Even if you don't get to *the* lesson, multiple runs might still increase your chances of succeeding, eventually.

Or it's just my own wishful thinking xD
Suicide definitely will leave the reason for doing so unresolved. Obviously, otherwise no one would do it. I I'd like to think that what you learned and did throughout life still counts towards a at least slightly better outcome enxt time. May it be in this or a potential next life.

If that makes sense....

For me spirituality is a mind free of delusions and illusions, so no religions nor advertisements here.
I know what I am and why. I know what kind of animal homo sapiens is and I don't like it nor myself.
Don't know if this answer goes off topic
