Theres this instagram page. This young boy drowned and suffered severe brain damage. Everytime I look at the videos I see a poor soul trapped, and honestly I know his mother wants the best but I dont know. Doctors told her he would live the rest of his life with brain damage. Curious what would you do if you were in this situation?

I hope he's not in pain. If my child were in constant pain, I'd euthanize them & kill myself

It makes me feel horrible. I don't know how the boy feels physically or emotionally. I don't know if he feels happy or miserable, but if I could only move my eyes, I'd be horrified.

He looks so far out of it. That is depressing as hell. I feel bad for the parent but also gotta wonder what the point of keeping someone alive is at this point. He will never have any quality of life at all...and so much time, money, and resources will be spent on him, yet he won't even realize it (I'm assuming.)

Edit: I just looked at the GoFundMe page and...made me even more cynical about it. Quote:

"He was given a 20% chance of ever being able to walk, talk, think, feed himself, see, or move about like the once vibrant, rambunctious 4 year old he once was. However- we believe God. We value the opinions of medical professionals, but God is the greatest Physician and we believe that Judah will be healed."

"The road to recovery is an expensive one. How expensive, we don't know. We have life insurance, health insurance, dental and vision insurance, but there is no insurance that is able to cover sudden tragedy's such as this. This fund is established to cover Judah's medical expenses during and after his hospital stay. It will assist us in having to re locate to a bigger space that can accommodate the possibility of wheelchairs, 24 hour nurses, and hospital machines. It will also provide mental and grief counseling for our entire family, and to assist our entire in the days to come as we wait with bated breath to see what Judah's future will be."

Like, you're doing all this for the kid, and he'll never know what is going on. It's definitely a tragedy, but we euthanize animals for less. Obviously not suggesting we euthanize kids, but. Anyway. Just sucks but I feel for the myriad other poor kids whose situations aren't as extreme but would benefit 1000x more from the extra attention/money being poured into this one kid. That's all.

The posts of that breeder grasping pixie sticks are absolutely pathetic and appalling. Humans, especially breeders, don't view their own offspring as members of their own species. Instead, they often regard them as flesh-and-blood toys. This child kept alive to bolster the breeder's ego, social status, and life purpose; and stave off loneliness and boredom. Let's not forget filling the pockets of medical professionals, childcare workers, mental health enforcers, local grocery stores, local clothing stores, ect. to help keep the economy rolling.

Even the most highly regarded animals don't measure up of a human's assigned value and worth, and are therefore, more readily euthanized for the sake is disposal. Euthanasia should be bestowed as an act of kindness, freeing anyone, regardless of species or age, from the endless gauntlet of suffering.

@hotelbeneathground 's thoughts are what I imagine a lot of parents might think:
I hope he's not in pain. If my child were in constant pain, I'd euthanize them & kill myself
It's hard to put myself in a parent's shoes as I'm not a parent myself, but these exact thoughts would probably be in my mind for the majority of every day if I were in this situation. I don't think I'd be able to bring myself to do such actions, though.

Of course, it seems extremely unlikely that Ju's parents would choose to go ahead with this option. For the sake of everyone living with Ju's condition, I hope that a cure is found.

Without knowing the exact diagnosis it's hard to know what to think. What is the chance that the kid is actually conscious? I know that there are examples of people who appear unconscious but who actually are. Is he one of them?

But sometimes we just know people aren't conscious with such certainty it's basically as guaranteed as anything can be. And if he's one of those people then well, I can see mostly misdirected love, a mother giving up to her instincts being blind to the truth, people glorifying martyrdom and suffering etc. Perhaps it's unfair to say it, but the people who keep their loved ones "alive" at all cost do it out of selfish reasons. Those people who are kept alive like that, they do not benefit in anyway from being alive. One could say that there is no feeler of feelings inside their body who can in any way benefit from anything that's done to that body. There is no one who desires or wants anything. It's empty. It makes about as much sense as having a frozen zygote in a jar and acting like you're helping a human being by keeping it alive. It only makes the "owner" happy and content.

And think about all the resources that could be used to help people who are actually conscious and aware of their pain that are now being used to keep that kid alive. It's cruel and unfair.

That's a short version, I don't feel like writing a whole essay on the importance of consciousness and personhood right now.

It is depressing for us, but hopefully not for him. What makes me depressed is the fact that I could end up like this. Or anybody. I fucking hate life sometimes because It allows shit like that to happen.

How stupid of that parents to think he can attend school? What are they expecting of him to do? He cannot even move. He will probably end up being put in a corner at some point, as a little reminder how cruel life can be, like in some kind off horror movie.

It shows how horrific life is. The human body can be a prison. Of course, I believe that euthanasia should be legal everywhere, it is cruel how the society expects people to live low quality lives. Society places more emphasis on quantity of lives instead. There is no limit as to how bad life can get. I also believe that most parents are selfish, in that they would rather have their child living like that, than be free from the world and at peace. They are just doing what is best for themselves rather than the child.

Hard to say really, I guess it down to the parent.
Being a father myself I feel that on some level I would know how my child felt inside and If I thought they were in anyway suffering then I would end that suffering peacefully and join them so the were not alone.
