I read about it in the newspaper. It shall be the new 3d internet. The next big technology revolution. I am not fully sure if it works. Maybe anyone can tell more about it if he is an expert. It is related to the NFT boom.
Will this be the future?

if you count how addicted people are to screens and internet, combined with generation addicted from the start, and the dramatic difference between reality and virtual /fake/, it's going to make a big future, ya. As i get it, NFT's are promising for the transactions of future virtual properties, so it has a market now and it's going to grow. There is gonna be big competition. So the winner will be like facebook, twitter, google, apple, microsoft, intel, samsung and so on...combined. Some had done it already during the years, big profits.
I see it as a project where someone had a success /most likely porn/, it was killed by regulations, then the new big guy comes, every screen on the planet will advertise this, make it a trend. And people will give them even more time, as they do now. But they need to give their money too, for stuff - like virtual cars. Why not going to work entirely to fund your virtual lifestyle? Why not? haha
When they have put their money, then the market cycle is completed. It's gonna be like a black hole for time, money and work force in the real world. People will be slaves into the real world, and "free" in the virtual one.
I know i can be evil, but even this option sounds too brutal. I don't wanna drink virtual alcohol, take virtual drugs or coffee. Virtual sex? ya...very good days should be comming to the porn industry, but again it will be AI generated, no actors.
Don't like the metaverse. The only reason i would be glad to be created is to invest in it, exploit it and destroy it to make my day. That will be the single one day i would watch news /unless they were all in the meta, haha/.

"Metaverse" is yet another buzzword, just like "information superhighway" was in 1990s and "computer dating" was in 1970s.

P.S.
This reminded me of something that happened nearly two decades ago. A friend of mine have read a newspaper article predicting collapse of Internet and emergence of new one. He showed me the article, and asked for my opinion about it (I guess it got him confused and worried a bit, and I was the biggest IT expert he knew). I've read the article, and it was full of bullshit. I haven't read the article you are talking about, but I'm sure it's full of BS too.

I have just watched the video, and it just confirmed my initial post. Bunch of marketing BS, and "futuristic predictions" that are decades old. The only thing missing is his friendly investment advice for buying into some new dot-com bubble that he is in no way connected to.
