• Hello Guest,

We will not be following or complying with the Online Safety Bill that was recently signed into law in the UK. This bill will not affect the operations of the site, nor do we have a presence in the UK to receive notice or fines that the UK Government may impose.

We would highly recommend that all users from the UK get some sort of VPN, and you should petition your lawmakers to let them know how you feel about this piece of draconian legislation.

human lives are full of inherent suffering, for our brains are too complex for their own good. so, when you die, what would you rather be reborn as? sorry the title doesn't really apply to everyone.

if you're looking for a starting answer, i would be a cat! most people would pick something that could fly or something strong, but honestly i love cats too much to pass up. i want to be a kitten with other kitty friends and we all play and have fun and prance through flower fields. i hope that's what the afterlife is like, if there is one. i think another sufficient answer would be a blue whale, or something at the bottom of the ocean. i know it's dark as hell down there, but the pressure of the water is very comforting to me! i would love to just float and watch, and know that when i die, the ecosystem will thrive much more than if i was alive.

I want nothing more than being as close to nothingness as possible. Ideally, there should be no you, me and them. I want nothing more than an unobserved baseline of existence without any projections of being one individual self. That is the most harmonious symphony of non-being. The most ideal heaven one can attain.

I only want to not exist forever. Only with non-existence forever can I be guaranteed never to suffer extreme pain that is continuous and long lasting :
😱😱😱😱😱😱😱

There isn't even any objective reason to exist as anything in the first place anyway

Imo That's what happens to a human after death non-existence forever : every bit of science and tech has further confirmed this in the last 500 years of science and experiments , for example they showed evolution is true...

Non-existence forever truly is the ultimate bliss

Of course all mammals and all vertebrates are conscious and can suffer pain

Even insects seem to be conscious and can suffer pain

Imo DNA based life is the worst function in the universe

Ideally, reincarnation won’t be a thing. But if it is, I probably wouldn’t be able to choose. Maybe the god that decides that would let me be a maggot or something. But if I really could choose, a house pet would be nice.

A cat that gets to nap on a soft, fuzzy blanket in the windowsill, basked in the sun. A dog that gets to run to their heart’s content, that has so many bones to hide that they’ve forgotten where they’ve buried some by now. A house rabbit doing zoomies in the morning when my owner is waking up to feed and spoil me, only to take quiet naps alone in the afternoon. A goldfish that just swims around and around in a bowl, even that sounds pretty peaceful.

I think it would be nice to be an animal that has no worries and lots of unconditional love, only here for two decades at most, enriching someone else’s life.

Nothing. I only hope for and believe in permanent non-existence. I see it as being so undesirable existing under any circumstances, it’s a curse to be burdened with the ability to suffer endlessly, existence was just a horrific mistake in the first place that only eternal nothingness can bring relief from.

I'd love to be something like a jellyfish, but then maybe that's only since I have the sentience and emotion to appreciate their beauty. it sounds nice to have no expectations, no pain and no thoughts, floating through the depths of the ocean.

Repeating the cycle of life means being subjected to unavoidable, guaranteed suffering. I wouldn’t want that, personally. There’s definitely beauty in it, though. For all the horrible human experiences, there are the ones which make life worth it (sometimes, and not for everyone).

I would want to experience what it’s like to love a human, which is something I’m searching for in this life already. That’s the only reason why I would ever consider wanting to reincarnate.

Without it, pure, motherly, endless void is all I wish for lol

I'd rather be a cute anime girl than a hood a** ni**a

If not, I'd like to be a tree, a tree far from civilization. Near a boreal forest... That does nothing but grow and bloom...

Me as well. Being a cat would be the dream

I honestly think that I was a cat in my past life or something. I think I was meant to be one as well in this life but somehow ended up as a human by accident. I’ve honestly never even felt like a human being, I’ve always felt like an alien on this earth

i understand your point, but i do feel the need to say most smaller animals (if you can really even call them that tbh, i think of mammals when i think 'animal') detect pain, not feel it. human brains are the only ones capable of processing emotional trauma as well as we do. worms don't have debilitating OCD, i don't think.. so i believe there's a better choice here than just nothing. people who give me that answer have my hopes and prayers, but worms don't have to worry about shit. be a worm or something, you little rebels.

i feel this exact way, but probably for a different reason. growing up with autism meant i had to learn the world first hand for just about everything, and there's a lot of human traditions and norms that i STILL don't understand. i am NOT a human that was properly integrated into this society. however, with how much research i've DONE on cats, part of me believes i definitely was one, or supposed to be one. small and safe, but readily able to protect itself if need be. loved by most, and even stray cats have lives full of adventure that isn't possible for most people. cats have it the best.

All of science shows reincarnation is not possible anyway and that after death a human ceases to exist forever after the brain dies.

all vertebrates fish, birds mammals , humans etc have the same basic brain structure . Yes they can suffer extreme pain like a human.

imo all DNA based life is very bad. Even if it were possible to send a few one-celled creatures to another planet. Even if these wouldn't suffer pain now they would probably evolve to have brains and nervous systems that can suffer extreme pain : fyi this is what happened on a planet called Earth. all life descended from a single cell.

Life is the only function in the universe that causes pain and suffering .society can try to glorify it as much as they can but there is no objective reason for life. the only thing that is real to me is extreme pain.

You can wish to be a worm which is impossible .I don't see an objective reason to want to do that. why would i want to there is no reason. but if it were possible your descendants will have brains that can suffer immensely and feel extreme pain. a worm was the ancestor of all vertebrates and humans.

I've seen videos of a boar being eaten alive for an hour screaming the whole time. No I didn't view it to "get off" as pro-lifers say that's all people do things for . I did it to learn what life is and reality is, and that is part of how i reached these conclusions

what? i never even mentioned mammals other than saying i wasn't talking about mammals. why are you talking about boars dying? this is not what i wanted this thread to be lmfao. learn to play along or something. i never asked to hear your philosophy, i asked you what animal you wanna be instead of human. it was a fun question to get my mind off shit for once. leave me alone you're really really annoying and not helping.

Best life ever, no worries other than which toys you get to play with and if your owners are staying away from you. You can be so intimidating at times by scratching them and asserting all power in the house. Amazing life but I’d still rather be dead.

i imagine reincarnation to probably wipe all that away since human memories would probably be pretty hard for any other animal to process. but fuck yeah, cats are awesome. nine lives, and i'll probably lose every single one just by jumping off shit and having fun.

Human. If the universe is cruel enough to force us to exist again and again forever, I'd wish to escape this cycle if at all possible. Since humans are the only creatures we know of that can think in such abstract terms, it's my best bet for finding the path out.

You identify yourself via the memories you have about your past and your knowledge about the world. Once you lose all these memories, your main identity becomes lost as well. This may happen even in case if you keep living, but your brain somehow becomes damaged in a way that results in amnesia.

So what does it mean to reincarnate as someone else? If you don't preserve your memories, what is the connection between the older yourself and the newer yourself? And, even if we assume that some connection really exists, what exactly does constitute its importance, if your new "instance" can't associate itself with the older one via memories?

IMHO, soul is a useless notion. Your memories is the only thing that matters. When you lose your memories, you cease to exist.
