Discussion what do you guys believe in??

woooahhh this isnt a vent post!! but anyway what do you guys believe in? im just wondering. i'm an athiest or atleast i think i am

I grew up thinking I was atheist but now I'm not sure. Learning that being atheist describes that you don't believe in god and his existence. For me it's more like I wouldn't really mind if he were to exist but I could care less about religion in general. So I'm not entirely sure if that still counts as atheism.

I've been an atheist/agnostic since around grade 5 or 6. I used to jump between the two labels a lot because I had extreme doubts about there being a God but I also felt like I couldn't really say anything for sure about it.

I'm atheist. There is no "god". We are only a higher form of animals, still animals, though, nonetheless. We didn't exist before an egg and a sperm got together, and we will cease to exist when we die. It makes ABSOLUTELY zero sense for a god to have created a place like this, a benevolent god, nonetheless, whereby his/her creations are subjected to unfathomable misery and agony. Where his creations, in order to just sustain life, are required to eat other living things. This entire place is beyond stupid. It's preposterous. It makes no sense, whatsoever. And if something doesn't make sense, it's not true. It makes no sense for a creator, a god, to make his creations suffer.

The idea of a god has been instilled into people's minds by other people. Imagine for a moment if you were a 1 month old baby on a ship with your parents and that ship was sinking. Your parents couldn't save themselves, but they managed to put you onto a lifeboat all alone, and you ended up on an uninhabited island. Now, imagine for a moment that you, somehow, defying all odds, managed to survive (I said IMAGINE) and to grow up to, let's say, 20 years old.

You wouldn't know how to speak because no one taught you. You wouldn't even know what you were, because no one told you. You wouldn't even know where you were. Or, what this place is. Even your thoughts would be devoid of words since you know no language. You'd really know nothing, except that you needed to eat to stay alive, and that's because it's ingrained in all living things.

Do you even believe that the concept of "god" would exist in your consciousness at all? Of course it wouldn't, because no one had put that concept into your mind. God is a man-made construct.

Atheist, my general rule of thumb is not to have beliefs. If someone can provide me evidence and logical reasoning to show me something exists or is a certain way, then I accept that truth.

That the existence of life was the most horrific and terrible tragedy in the first place with no deeper purpose or meaning behind it, to have the ability to exist is such an meaningless, unnecessary burden that causes nothing but suffering all while one is just waiting to die anyway in an existence so futile. Existing truly is just a process of slowly dying and I believe death to be nothing more than an dreamless, eternal sleep where all is finally forgotten about, I only find comfort in the thought of this existence permanently disappearing into nothingness.

I grew up catholic, but not really. as I turned into a teen I thought I was atheist or a "satanist" (I didn't worship satan, but I just believed in anarchy.. or whatever. I'm still confused on my view from then) I don't really care about religion. but sometimes I like to think that god gives everyone chances and if an afterlife no one truly goes to hell.. your life was a chance and what you learn isn't your fault. you just lived... why should there be punishments? I think that before you die you're immediately forgiven and you achieve your true potential in death.. that's what I hope happens to me. I hope I am an angel
but that's just what I want to believe when I know there's no purpose to life. it may not be true. I don't truly believe in anything, and all I know is I want to escape

I'm an atheist though I used to be religious because my parents were religious. As soon as I obtained critical thinking skills though, I realised that all religions were man made and that god is only a human construct. I don't believe in a god at all

It's crazy for me to think that me, my mind, and who I am are separate from the brain and body and the flesh that holds the signals that fire when I think I'm even alive. Death is anesthesia for the mind.
