I love cooking and I've always had a dream of opening my own restaurant. I'm especially intrigued by the refined French cuisine and the Japanese. Everyone says that I put my "soul" into my cooking lol which is meant as a compliment in my culture. I don't remember cooking anything that didn't taste and look like it came out of a restaurant loll

I never cook. I've never even used an oven. I hate cooking. The best I can do is boil some water for an instant soup. So my diet consists mostly of junk food and takeaway. But I eat a lot of fruits :hihi:

Unless it's takeout it's always frozen stuff. Usually the same thing over and over. Very rarely anything healthy because it takes too much time and energy.

Yeah I do cook.
In fact, thats my job for a living lol.
Until coronavirus came along of course.

I usually cook at home
pasta,
,roasted potato/veges,
omelette, scramble egg
are my go-to since they are fairly quick/low effort.
I also eat instant ramen, and sometimes canned tuna when I cant be bothered.
I assume most people do that when they are hangry.

Eating food makes me happy.
Having basic needs met, you know?

I miss eating good food. It was my no 1 way of staying mentally same. Lots of potato and pasta and veggie based stuff. Since I went on medications I have no appetite, cheese is the only thing I really like. And I feel guilty if I eat, so yeah I don't really

Lots of potatoes, onions, garlic, tomatoes, bell peppers, zucchini, mushrooms, bread, butter, eggs and beer. Very rarely eat meat nowadays, maybe once a month, out of politeness for some friend or family member.

I mostly make pretty basic stuff for myself - sandwiches, pasta w/ bags of frozen veggies or those pre-bagged salads, baked chicken thighs, rice and beans... I've worked cooking more complex stuff for a living. Which was nice in a way. My present housemate is kind of a drunk and tends to make a mess of the common space which honestly discourages me from using it for more-involved projects. It's whatever.

As long as I have a recipe, I can cook, but no recipe and I'm screwed.

cooking is actually one of the main things i do to keep myself sane! i love devoting the time and energy to making something good for myself. i deal with disordered eating + i'm vegan so it's helpful to make food for myself. plus i grew up alone mostly so i had to learn to cook very early on. if you dont regularly cook and have the means to i highly recommend it!

normally in a day my food log is like this:
wake up, drink a big glass of water and then drink water throughout the morning
i don't eat until 1pm usually. i follow the 16/8 fasting plan so i only actually eat from 1-9 (being realistic, sometimes i only eat one meal a day, which has its ups and downs)
if i'm especially hungry or my blood sugar is crashing i'll eat some fruit
for lunch i'll make something super simple - probably a salad or sauteed veggies, or leftovers/meal prep which i try to do often. when its in the colder months i make a lot of soup that i eat throughout the week. i generally dont like eating big lunches because it makes me tired for the rest of the day
for dinner i'll make something that requires more effort on my part - lately i've been trying to make more authentic chinese food which is fun!
i also try to bake occasionally. i havent done it much lately but bread is really fun and surprisingly easy and it's really enjoyable to eat something you spent a lot of time on!

not to sound corny, but i seriously believe food is a great coping mechanism. people have a lot of different ways of staying afloat but putting effort into something with a clear payoff and a lot of room to grow is really fun for me

Forget the microwave, I use Philip's Air Fryer, it cooks by itself the best meat, tuna steak, salmon and whatever, veggies with butter can join later the fryer party. I'm male, 37, almost 38 and I love cooking in my air fryer. Anything anyday.
Spicy chicken wings
French meat
Chicken breasts
Rib eye
Even make a big cookie with cookie dough , it has to be cleaned before that.

I'm definitely dependent on take-away, cereal and sweets, but when I decide to cook I go for pasta, lentil soup, baked potatoes, green beans, salads with lots of dressing (balsamic), making pita bread and dipping it in different sauces and repeat. Sometimes if I have the energy I'll follow a new recipe too. I like cooking for myself, it's washing the dishes the thing I hate.

Yes most of what I eat are meals I cooked myself. I only get takeout like twice a week but for all other meals I cook something.

Most of what I cook is a combination of meat and vegetables.

When I want to spoil myself I cook something with a lot of carbs like spaghetti with meat sauce. I just made myself spaghetti a couple of nights ago while I was watching the Super Tuesday results and damn was it good.

For snacks I avoid chips, I mostly eat nuts and fruit.

I think frozen and microwavable food is gross, so I never buy frozen food. I don't even own a microwave.
Can you make of list of these meals?

I cannot cook. I do not enjoy eating anymore, it is hard work eating. I just eat small amounts of food. Most foods I do not like. It is one of the things I will glad to leave behind when I ctb.

Same here. I too find no joy in eating, it's nothing but a chore for me now and 99.9% of the time it only ends up making me sick in one form or another. There are so many foods I used to be able to eat but can't now, and that increases my depression and makes eating/putting together meals more difficult because I remember when I wasn't like this and eating was actually (mostly) enjoyable. Like you, having to eat will be one of the many things about life I'll be glad will finally end when I leave this hellhole earth and body.
