So, the basic premise being put forward in this article, is that lethal doses of barbiturates such as pentobarbital do not on their own bring about a completely peaceful death. Without general anaesthetic, you will experience suffering, but there will be very few outwards signs of this suffering.

So, is this just pro-life propaganda? Or could there be some truth to the claims?

I'm very much pro-choice when it comes to assisted dying/euthanasia. But I'm also pro-truth and transparency. I don't like the idea of people suffering, especially when they are being given the opposite impression.

Yeah, I'd take my chances with N as well tbh! Considering the available alternatives anyway.

It sounds like lies, the internet is full of pro-life nonsense as after all this society is so incredibly anti-suicide.

The article is pure anti-choice propaganda that is honestly badly written and reads like the main content was the title and the actual body filler content. Then again, that's how most journalism works these days. It's basically saying that the lethal injections used for executions in the US are permitted to be painful and as such are painful. Who'd have thunk?

Then it drops this gem:
Having heard the consequences of the process shared between assisted suicide and lethal injection, all three chose to die instead by the electric chair.
Really? The electric chair? One of the most painful and cruelest ways of dying?

I wouldn't put much stock into this article or its author, or really the magazine itself as it is heavily associated with the UK Conservative Party who are anti-choice.

Edit: I looked further into the author of the article and he has made quite a nice little career for himself in making media appearances, TED Talks, and articles denouncing the right to die and fearmongering about assisted dying. In short, he's an utter twat whom I can only hope won't suffer the consequences of his own actions if he someday needs help in ending his own pain.
