I've been lurking around here for a little bit and things haven't been getting better since I first joined. I don't like lurking around here because it makes me wanna kms more but I feel like I'm at the end of my rope as this point. I'll try to look through the list of suggested ways to do it but I want to find some way of coping with my depression and anxiety that isn't alcohol and I think smoking some sort of nicotine product will do that for me. I'm a complete beginner so I'm wondering what type of product would you guys recommend to someone like me? I live in the united states so I would like to find something I can actually buy.
Thank you and I hope you have a wonderful day.

Contrary to popular belief, nicotine does not calm you down. It is a stimulant. The so called calming is just satisfying your addiction so you don't put holes in your walls.

I smoked cigarettes for 25 years. I wish I'd never have.

I did quit in favor of vaping in 2014. Haven't touched a smoke since. Haven't had a lung infection since either, which was becoming more and more frequent.

I don't suggest starting either. But if you're set on it, vaping is far cleaner. My lung x-rays weren't pretty when I smoked and amazingly they are clean now. Unflavored juice which has no extra flavoring, just nicotine, pg/vg which are natural extracts is what I use. It tastes like a mild cigarette. I started with flavors, but eventually settled with unflavored.

Tobacco has an insane amount of additives for taste, burn management, flame retardant, pesticides, etc etc. It coats your lungs with tar.

If you're looking to calm anxiety, you might want to take another approach. Nicotine withdrawal sucks. Once you're addicted, you have to regulary feed it. It can be very difficult to step away from. It varies per person.

While I did quit smoking, I'm still addicted to nicotine so I vape. And I'm not a happy camper without it. I tried many times to quit and 27 days was my best. Someday I hope to quit for good, but honestly I've had no side effects in over 10 years of vaping, and I feel and breathe much better than I did back then.

Smoking may not look like a big deal but i think every smoker regrets ever getting into it haha. In my case It only felt exciting the first few times. Now It's just for the sake of sating my addiction. Like I don't feel any different as a person than I did as a non-smoker, minus the dependence on cigarettes. I'm not too bummed out about it because at this point I've stopped caring about my health. The only thing about it that I regret is that it uses up some of my money that could otherwise be spent on other things šŸ˜…

Edit: with all that said, my only info is look at the tar and nicotine content of the cigarette pack. The lower the easier to smoke, but doesn't mean it's healthier
