Recently, a stable pastime for me has become MINESWEEPER, just can not stop and strongly advise everyone who has not previously played this game.

First, if you are just starting, it will take time to understand the essence. And then get better at it. I'm sure everyone has an easy base ceiling of skill limit, after which you have to really try and turn out, but I assure you that before you reach it will take dozens of hours for a very fun game.

I love the competition with myself and it is here! Even now, when I think that I'm almost at the ceiling, I'm still ahead of some of my indicators every few days and it's very satisfying!

Now I'm playing INSIDE for the what 50th time?. Everything about it is imo absolutely perfect. A lot of people don't get the ending but it just resonates with me. I know playdead's working on a new game, shame I won't be alive to play it, ahh well.

It's friday my dudes! I got myself a lot of games downloading for my upcoming Android TV Box. Buncha No-Intro sets for older systems, some translated sets, a few PS1 games. Around 150 GB, half of that being the PS1 games.

Also got the APKs for retroarch and BIOS files for practically everything. Once it comes I'll connect it to Wi-Fi to update the retroarch assets inside the app itself, download all the cores, disable the internet connection and VOILA! Got myself the ultimate emulation machine for less than 25 US Dollars approx., and it's lighter than my phone!

I just wish I knew how to put a custom ROM in it. There seems to be no universal ROM and many are made for ony specific devices. Unknown cheap tv boxes don't have those, I'm afraid.

I did want to put an ARM OS like EmuELEC, Lakka or Batocera, but I decided against it cause retroarch is enough for me!

I just finished playing Surviving Mars, a city builder type game that (as the name implies) has you building domed cities on Mars. I think its a good game that balances between difficulty and being laid back.

Has been a while since I posted myself, so what I'm playing?

Your Battle Royale: Free itchio battle royale fps, but with bots, procedurally generated levels, and even a dynamic difficulty system. Really fun, and I like the low poly aesthetic.

Halls of Torment: Cool "Horde Survivor" with Diablo II aesthetic and interesting upgrade system.

Soulstone Survivors: Another "Horde Survivor", has a lot of depth and customization. Also has a low poly aesthetic.

Not sure what you are looking for, but have you heard of LaunchBox? It is an emulation library organizer and launcher. You can set it to start up in big picture mode, so it basically launches when your computer starts up. They have an android version, I believe. It is paid (no subscription!), but it is worth it.

Lately I've been playing a lot of games, both digital and non-digital. I play a lot of Flesh and Blood, which is a physical trading card game, and also Shadowverse.
I really enjoy card games.

LaunchBox is a good frontend, but that's not what I mean when I said Custom ROM. the ROM is basically the base android system and I wanted to put one with less bloat in it. as for the ARM OS, they got their own frontends linking it all together.

As for now, RetroArch as an android app is a good frontend that is made for controllers and big picture. It can look minimalistic but as long as I can launch games and configure the emulators via controller, it's all right to me!

Thanks for the suggestions though! The android box didn't come yet but my body is ready.

Touhou Subterranean Animism is the only game I have been playing for the past 2 or 3 weeks now. It also might be the hardest game I have ever played but I have been having fun :) I'll share the section I am stuck on currently in my practice runs.

While Touhou is not one of my all time faves, it is a terribly fun game which rewards skill. I'd recommend a slower paced Shmup for beginners on the genre, though, hahaha.

Compared to most other games in the shmup genre I think Touhou games are usually slower paced. Obviously the extra boss in one of the hardest games is not a good example of that, though :) The self improvement loop is very addictive though. I just wish I had the self improvement loop for real life as well and not just hard video games.

I agree. Danmaku usually require a different set of skills than more traditional Shmups. (Lots of slower enemy bullets vs player's tiny hitbox for Danmaku, few faster enemy bullets vs player's larger hitbox for traditional.)

I'd say trying as many shmups to see what stick to you is a good way to go. Shmups are usually short experiences, so it's not like it will take you time to have a taste for what it's like.

One article that is still one of the best shmup guides out there is this one: https://racketboy.com/retro/shmups-101-a-beginners-guide-to-2d-shooters/ It features a lot of explanation about shmups from various eras and styles. There's also https://hardcoregaming101.net/ which is a goldmine for thorough reviews of games, sometimes entire series, and include a ton of shmups as well!

In any case, shmups are vast and varied genre spread throughout the eras. There's one for almost everyone, and to this day, it's still having new releases. Touhou is but a speck in this huge landscape to explore! 🔴 🔴 🔴 🛩️ 🔴 🔴 🔴

Intelligent Qube for PlayStation

went into it blind and was one step away from completing level 1 but ran out of room and descended into the darkness

I would recommend it for those who like puzzle games that are also platformers or something like Echochrome for the PlayStation Portable

I'm glad you got the setup working. PS1 has a lot of hidden gems!
As for myself, I'm plating Soulstone Survivors, pretty good and deep horde survival game!

I remember playing the japanese version and being stuck on the ferris wheel cause I was too young to understand moaning meant she's liking it. (Even if I did pass, the kanji subway bomb level would fuck me up big time.)

...what.... !?

I am a bit afraid now that I know this

but also I cannot figure out why a ferris wheel would be moaning so the absurdity makes me less afraid and reminds me of the lady who was in a relationship with a chandlier, the effiel tower, and a ferris wheel
