You can always play solo to work yourself up back to shape. Although I know it takes half of the fun away in this case.

Replaying https://team-xf.itch.io/xeno-fighters-r after some years and oh my god it's got even bigger! I can now play as the freaking space invaders ship! And Mega Man for some reason! There's like 40+ playable fighters from 1978 to 2024, 20+ stages, it's like a shmupper's wet dream. And it still got the lower difficulty levels so even people bad at shmups (like me) can enjoy the game without dying every 15 seconds.

Seriously, go check it out, it's free and it's freaking awesome.

I'm considering buying Omori because I've heard so many good things about it. Has anyone played it and can tell me if it's any good? Suggestions for similar games are also welcome.

I'd say it's pretty good all around.

Well I have 100%ed playing Silksong so now I am depressed again (unless I decided to do the speedrun and steal soul achievements) cus I don't have my way to cope with life currently no more :<

Anyways it very fun game. I would say is flawed in some ways compared to original (minor spoilers) like to me with some of the early game bosses (why does the 2nd boss of the game deal double damage on every attack? ON THE SECOND BOSS OF THE GAME), just the overall quest system existing making you have to backtrack more and locks content of somethings when those things could of been just there on the first go around of the area, less creativity I think with the tool system compared to the charm system with how limiting it is (feel like there should of been another colour category so some tools don't feel overshadowed some other ones) and with you can only equip one silk skill at a time so less variety in spells (tho spells are complimented by attacking tools but wish we could to use a variety in both at same time) but otherwise still very fun game :P

At least I can watch my favorite streamer play the game now:

Yo, thanks for posting this. I got as far in Hollow Knight as I could. I cannot beat the last couple bosses and there is no way in fuck I am doing the White Palace. I thought about trying my hand at Silksong, but if the second boss is going to be that difficult, there is no way I am going to enjoy playing the game much less succeed at it. I purchased it to give the devs money because I really enjoy the franchise and wanted to support indie people, but I will probably just watch someone else play it.

There you go: *gives sims 4 with all dlc*

As much as I love The Sims, I always prefer building wacky houses than actually playing the game, and also making horrible abominations. I've had Sims 3 on my PC for long and every now and then I think "Hmm I would like to play Sims 3" only to forget that in like half a minute.
I kinda have this tendency to turn any game I'm playing into Sims...hehe.

There's another thread about this but it made me feel really old because I only recognized like 2 of the games named over there. Y'all might be closer to my own age group.

I am currently playing a heavily-modded Skyrim, but am also a big fan of the Fallout series-- most especially Fallout 3. Fallout 3 might be my favorite game ever. Unfortunately, I'll probably never play it again because as I understand it, it is now only available on PS5 and I refuse to engage with the subscription model of gaming. I like to physically buy games I pay for once and then have access to for the rest of my life, rather than paying someone monthly and hoping that they will occasionally have something I like available.

M.C. Kids is an NES game released in 1992. You people may remember this game from an AVGN episode, where the nerd does his usual superficial review and jokes, and nothing wrong with that or enjoying it, but this game is more than it seems, both in good and bad things.

The first thing one may note about it is that it's a McDonalds licensed game, but other than the occasional McCharacter such as Ronald, Grimace and the Hamburglar, as well as some golden arches used as coins stand-ins and other collectibles, there is not much in the way of McLore, which I appreciate, but the lack of any food-related imagery, specially on a fast food chain licensee, is kind of weird. If one strips all the McStuff and McSymbolism from the game, it just becomes another platformer, one that could be considered a hidden gem...we'll talk about that.

The presentation ranges from okay to great. The graphics are cartoony and well defined, but a tad too simplistic at times. The music, however, is leaps and bounds better. There are not many tunes in the game, but the ones that are there are usually bops which begs the question: Why are they on a freaking McDonalds game? Guess a job is a job, Mr. Music man.

The gameplay is as simple as the graphics. Run, jump, grab boxes and throw them at enemies (A-la Rescue Rangers), collect McCoins to get lives. You can't stomp on enemies, though, and the throw arcs can be kind of hard to aim, but otherwise solid mechanics. The controls, however, are a tad too fast and slippery for my tastes, and the platforming can get very tight, as in 1-block wide or you fall to your death.

The stages are all short, without checkpoints, but they almost always have multiple secrets, some deviously hidden, which contain 1-ups, extra McCoins, bonus areas, and the main objective of the game: Cards. You see, you need to finish a stage to get further on the current world, but after you've finished all of them, you're stuck on that world. Why? Well, because to actually progress through the next world, you'll need to find the cards.

Okay, so you may have found some cards already, but you need more. Do you know which stages still have cards to go? No? Well then, tough luck, the game doesn't tell you. You'll be replaying stages that might have new cards uncollected, but you'll not only have to find them since most are hidden, you'll have no idea if there are more left.

To draw some perspective, imagine that in Mario 64, you had no star counter, no indication if you collected a star or not, no indication if the star even existed, no way to know which course still has stars to be collected...you get what I'm trying to say, don't you?

And that's not all! Sometimes, you'll collect a card, just to discover it's not to unlock the next world, but to unlock the one after that, or sometimes it's a "secret" card, which is a fancy way to saying "You need these to unlock the final stage". And yes, they are all scattered around, meaning that sometimes you'll need to go back to previous worlds to get cards for the current world, to unlock the next one, all while you have absolutely NO clue which stage even has any uncollected cards.

Remember that Mario 64 analogy? Yeah, imagine that certain stars only unlock certain doors, instead of being just a tally count, on top of all of that!

And the game gets harder on later worlds, which means you'll either have to farm lives, or you'll have to git gud, on a freaking kids game! I'm not trying to be patronizing here, I know kids can deal with difficulty on games, but they'll have to repeat a lot of stages, either to farm lives, or find secrets, and if there's one thing I can tell about kids, is that they get bored very fast.

In the end of the day, It could have been a hidden gem on the NES. there is a decent game there, a bit rough around the edges, but still enjoyable, and it's sad this disjointed progression system ruins it. And it would be so easy to fix it (Or at least to lessen its badness), by marking levels without any cards left to collect as "Completed", or maybe even a status screen which tells which stages have how many cards left, or hell, just making the cards a tally, and say "You need 5 more cards for the next world." instead of making it confusing would make the game tolerable...but alas, it is what it is, a lost opportunity.

Heyyo, it's Mr. Bear here! Ok sorry that felt like a youtuber intro hahahahaah.

Anyway, I see that there is a thread for "What yo listenin rn" and I didn't see any for games. So yeah this one is for games.

Post about a game you're currently playing. You can include videos, images and make a description if you want to. Go wild!

Last game I played was Brotato, which is basically "What if Vampire Survivors was wave based...and about a mutant potato VS aliens?". It's super addicting, very accessible, difficulty wise, and runs on any potato. (no pun intended)

Also am playing Doom RogueLike Arsenal mod for ZDoom + Obhack maps (Basically Doom + Lots of weapons + Random maps), OpenTTD (Never thought I would have fun running a transport company.), trying random football (Not handegg) games on c64 (Hint: Most of them suuUuUuuck) and Tekken Tag Tournament. ("EVERYONE IS HERE", Tekken style)
Cattails: Wildwood Story! its a cute game, kinda like stardew valley but with cats.
also a big fan of ow2, if anyone wants to add me and maybe play sometime im totally down.

I am a fan of the Legend of Zelda games. I have played some of them several times but there are others I have never played. So, I decided to play through the series in order of release. We'll see how long it takes me. 😅

(Also still need to finish Hollow Knight but I need to get mods installed for this 😩 )

omg, I do not remember making my above post and typed out an entire new post saying the same thing.
Anyway, I though I would put a list here of what I intend to play:
  • The Legend of Zelda (NES)
    • Second Quest
  • The Adventures of Link (NES) (because I hate myself)
  • A Link to the Past (SNES)
  • Link's Awakening DX (Gameboy Color)
  • The Ocarina of Time (Nintendo 64)
  • The Ocarina of Time Master Quest (GameCube)
  • Majora's Mask (Nintendo 64)
  • Oracle of Seasons (Game Boy Color)
  • Oracle of Ages (Game Boy Color)
  • Four Swords Anniversary Edition (3DS)
  • Wind Waker (GameCube)
  • Four Swords Adventures (GameCube)
  • Minish Cap (Game Boy Advance)
  • Twilight Princess (GameCube) (I literally just finished playing this for the 10th time)
  • Phantom Hourglass (DS)
  • Spirit Tracks (DS)
  • A Link Between Worlds (3DS)
I tried playing Skyward Sword and absolutely hated it and I am not interested in the new "open world" style games. I also do not hate myself enough to attempt the CDI games. It is a race between me getting to the end of this list and me offing myself. We will see which one happens first!
