My psychiatrist brought up Wellbutrin for my depression. I am already on a six different meds so it is costly every month. One of them is for my weight, metformin, and it doesn't help a lot but it helps.

I am just wondering how it would help with depression and if the weight loss (even maintaining) is effective enough for me to stop taking metformin so it isn't just another charge every month. I couldn't ask her because I accidentally scheduled my therapy and psychiarist appointment at the same time so I had to be quick with my psychiatrist. I don't want to make an appointment right now either because I am trying to see if vitamin d works, I am giving it another week, my next appointments in three weeks.

I was on Wellbutrin for a little while, it got me out of bed but ive not met anyone who would really recommend it. It made me and others spiral a lot more. Still, it has no weight gain, and it helped me quit smoking.

For me it did not affect weight at all but I'm already underweight. I know that for many people it supresses apetite (I already didn't feel hunger because of other meds I've been taking) and I've heard that it increases metabolic rate, so that could technically cause weight loss.
I'd say it's a good medication if you have very little energy, as it almost always improves that. However it also often makes people more anxious and can worsen insomnia. Personally I had a good experience with it, gave me more energy and more motivation which I needed specifically. It did not affect my mood/emotions at all, I think.

Okay that's good to know. It's mostly my energy because my depression is making it hard to do daily activities and other things I need to do. I'm have insomnia though and the anxiety so I'm going to see if my psychiatrist recommends increasing medication to balance it out or just wait and see.
