Anyone else see this story of the 35 year old that died from drinking 64 ounces of water in 20 minutes?

How in the world is it so hard for us to find ways out yet shit like this happens by accident? Blows my mind.

I just read an article about it myself! 😂 It sounds like we've found another method! A big con is it seems she went under a lot of duress, but a pro is it could easily be seen as an accident just as it actually was for this woman. I'm sorry for her as she didn't actually want to ctb.

I remember this woman dying from a water drinking contest at some radio station. It was on the news.
Whole situation was downright awful, she was in great pain and crying. The poor woman got horrible headaches and nausea if I remember correctly. Your brain is basically swollen af and pressing against your skull until you die.

Please correct me if I'm wrong tho. My memory might be flawed.

Sounds like such an awful way to die to me but at least all those gone are spared from all future suffering, rest in peace.

It wasn't even a suicide, she was dehydrated and drank a bunch of water, the people who were around her said she said she felt dizzy and just passed out, then wound up dying. Didn't sound like she suffered much. Happened in Indiana if you're interested in the story

A friend of mine said there was a pedophile who'd killed his victim in hungarian prison and thr guards strapped him to a chair and forced him to drink water until he died, he was screaming and crying for help all night

I heard about that same story. she suffered a lot before she died so it's definitely not a pleasant way to go out! it's still insane to me that no one running that contest knew about water toxicity

Here are some newspaper and reddit quotes I just found. They were aware, it's disturbing.

Her name was Jennifer Strange she was 28yo with 3 kids. She was trying to win a game console for her children.

Strange drank nearly two gallons of water during three hours in the contest on January 17, 2007. During the contest, she complained about pain to the radio station DJs while on the air.
"Oh, it hurts," Strange said as the DJs made jokes and laughed.
Remarkably, listeners – even one nurse – called into the station to warn the DJs that the contest was dangerous and could lead to death.
Listener Eva Brooks said, "Those people that are drinking all that water can get sick and possibly die from water intoxication."
The DJs said that they were aware of that, and that the station was not responsible because all of the contestants had signed release forms. The DJs did not warn contestants about the possibility of water intoxication and death.
One DJ said on the air, "Can you get water poisoning and like die?"
"Not with water," said another DJ. Your body is 98 percent water. Why can't you take in as much water as you want?"
"Maybe we should have researched this before," said the other DJ.
"The DJs also joked about Strange's distended belly, joking that she looked three months pregnant."

I don't have words for this.

Just to make clear there are two different stories of two different mothers.

1) One was Jennifer Strange, a 28 year old mother from Sacramento California, died after drinking nearly 2 gallons (7.6 liters) of water in an attempt to win a Nintendo Wii.

2) The other is a 35 year old Indiana woman Ashley Summers who was celebrating the Fourth of July, died after drinking 64 ounces of water in 20 minutes. Doctors told the family that Summers died of water intoxication, a rare condition caused by drinking too much water too fast, which upsets the electrolyte balance in the body, according to research published by the National Institutes of Health.
