I made a thread about CTB through dehydration and I got a couple of messages suggesting that CTB through water intoxication is better. Well lets say instead of water it was pepsi AND water (mostly pepsi) like get the necessary amount lets say 6 liters or more and just start drinking. I would LOVE to do down that way instead.

That won't work at all. It'svery silly. . I drink upwards of 8 litres a day. I'm not sure how anyone can think this is a means to ctb.

At worst, your electrolytes would be all over the place. You would be low in potassium sodium and magnesium. But that would only be a temporary phenomenon.

This is 100% nonsense.

Okay but how the hell do you drink this much??? I am glad if I get that 1L in.

Also, look OP, the thing is, dehydration is pointless. It is torture and water intoxication is not reliable at all. Just quicker

I just do. I'm always thirsty - since a child. My parents took me to a gp aged 11 as they were convinced i must be smoking weed. Lol but idiots. But I am anorexic. So I don't know. I have approx 2 litres in coffee in the morning. Then I just drink sparkling and still water.

To get more liquids eat ice or ice lollies. Relatively low cal and doesn't feel like drinking which fills you up. I eat about 4 a day in fruit ices. My treat is eating them in a hot bath. Don't skimp on salt too much as this will enhance your thirst.

It's not pointless there's a priest who wanted to fast for 40 days like jesus and he managed to go for about 3 weeks until he died so it's very much possible

I am not saying that it is impossible but it is torturing yourself.

The priest had a mission. He was determined to do the same Jesus did. It's like his whole life depended on this. Imagine having faith in a religion only to fail in the end. He trusted in god to save him. Looks like that just wasn't gods plan for him tho.

May I ask how old you are? I really don't mean this in a rude way.

I definitely am but I am just not that thirsty. I usually just take small sips every now and then and that's it 😭 whenever I try to reach that 2 Liter a day I feel like I am drowning myself lol, I definitely should keep trying tho

My mom calls me crazy if I drink 2-3 cups of coffee -.- I take special meds that are basically small doses of Amphetamine to keep me awake. Otherwise I would fall asleep in school all the time or not even make it out of bed

That just made me realize that I have no place to judge.

A good friend of mine doesn't survive any college lecture without at least one coffee out of these shitty coffee machine. I rather stick to 2L of Zero Sugar + 1-2L of Water. But yeah, should try to drink more, good for your health. (I know genius tip)

People have died of drinking too much water. There was that really tagic case where some dumb radio show ran a competition and a woman died as a result:

There was another case where this poor guy was drinking loads of chilled water to numb a toothache and died.

Still- I'm sure your body would try to be sick or pee it out. I'm sure there'd be pain too- I expect our bodies warn us when we are doing severe damage to them. I always feel like these kinds of methods are more likely to lead to severe major organ damage rather than death.

Lowkey I like it because it's torture I always feel better when I go a few days without food or water. I'm aware these aren't the most realistic methods but I like to fantasize about them anyways I'm 22

Exactly who I was thinking of - Jennifer Strange.

Via the L.A. Times -

Assistant Sacramento County Coroner Ed Smith said a preliminary investigation found evidence "consistent with a water intoxication death." Also known as hyponatremia, water intoxication occurs when the body's sodium level falls below normal. Overdrinking dilutes the sodium in the bloodstream, causing the brain to swell and push against the skull. Symptoms include nausea, vomiting, weakness and, in severe cases, seizures, coma and death.

Jennifer Strange's mother found her daughter's body at her home Friday in the Sacramento suburb of Rancho Cordova after Strange called her supervisor at her job to say she was heading home in terrible pain.

"She said to one of our supervisors that she was on her way home and her head was hurting her real bad," said Laura Rios, one of Strange's co-workers at Radiological Associates of Sacramento. "She was crying and that was the last that anyone had heard from her."

Poor lady. I think it was so irresponsible of that radio station to run that competition without researching whether it could be harmful. I suppose it's not exactly common sense that you could die from drinking too much water but I think everyone knows just about anything done in excess is harmful. Wasn't she trying to win a console for her children? That makes it even worse somehow. ☹️

Yes, it was for a Wii console. Ugh. Part of the "game" or "competition" rules were, if a contestant broke for the bathroom, they were eliminated. So Strange won, though she was in pain and did express it, while the DJ's were laughing and one or both joked she looked pregnant.

When I was a kid, my maternal grandfather visited us and he was the type of person, quite stoic, said little, had such a mischievous grin and was very conscious to not disturb anyone with noise or any possible thing while visiting. He needed to use the bathroom late at night but didn't want to wake anyone, bother anyone, so he was pacing for hours as we all slept. My mother woke up and found him pacing and he told her he didn't want to use the bathroom for the above reasons (didn't want to wake anyone).

Well, he had held in the urine for so long he was unable to go, and my mother rushed him to the ER. I was a kid, and I remember when he got back home - they had to give him a catheter but he was alright afterwards. My mother told me he shook and held the hand of the doctor, he was so grateful.

Back to Strange though - every time I revisit her story, I feel very sad for her, for her family. She must have been in excruciating pain. The only comfort is knowing she isn't anymore and never will be again.

I don't think it's silly at all. I have contemplated water intoxication. I think it would have to be water or something like crystal light flavored water to work though. Something sugary would have calories that might interfere with how quickly the water is absorbed. And doing it with Pepsi - all I can think is OUCH! You'd have to drink so much that the bloating from the carbonation would cause intense pain and may also prevent you from getting the amount you need.

There are plenty of 11 year olds who smoke weed. Times have changed. A lot of them have older siblings who get them into it. I was only 13 when I started. I don't smoke anymore and haven't for more than 30 years, but still.

Wrong. Someone drank two litres in twenty minutes this week and died from the very same.

Indeed. Ashley Summers, who was age 35.

Mom of two dies from drinking too much water after feeling dehydrated on family trip

An Indiana mother of two who told her family it felt like she couldn't drink enough water to feel satiated collapsed and died from water toxicity — a rare consequence of drinking too much water too quickly.

Ashley Summers, 35, was out at Lake Freeman with her husband and two young daughters over the Fourth of July weekend when she began feeling severely dehydrated.

"Someone said she drank four bottles of water in 20 minutes," her brother Devon Miller told WRTV. "I mean, an average water bottle is like 16 ounces, so that was 64 ounces that she drank in a span of 20 minutes. That's half a gallon. That's what you're supposed to drink in a whole day."

On the last day of the family's trip, the mom began feeling like she couldn't drink enough water.

Summers complained about feeling lightheaded and having a stubborn headache, her family said.

"My sister, Holly, called me, and she was just an absolute wreck. She was like 'Ashley is in the hospital. She has brain swelling, they don't know what's causing it, they don't know what they can do to get it to go down, and it's not looking good,'" said Miller.

After returning from the trip, Summers passed out in her garage before being taken to IU Health Arnett Hospital.

She never regained consciousness, and doctors told her family she had died from water toxicity.

"It was a shock to all of us. When they first started talking about water toxicity. It was like this is a thing?" Miller recalled.

Water toxicity — also known as water poisoning or water intoxication — occurs when too much water is consumed in a short period of time, or if the kidneys retain too much water due to underlying health conditions.

Symptoms of water toxicity include feeling generally unwell as well as having muscle cramps, soreness, nausea and headaches.

Dr. Blake Froberg, a toxicologist with the hospital, told the outlet the rare cause of death is more likely to occur during the summer or if someone works outside or exercises frequently.

"There are certain things that can make someone more at risk for it, but the overall thing that happens is that you have too much water and not enough sodium in your body," Froberg said, later noting it's important for people to drink things that have electrolytes, sodium and potassium.

Summers was an organ donor and was able to donate her heart, liver, lungs, kidneys and some of her long bone tissue, ultimately saving five other lives, her family said.

This is water. Excessive water depletes sodium, potassium and other minerals. Pepsi contains some salts. You would not deplete the body electrolytes in the same way.
The question was not about water.
''When it comes to water intoxication, it's about the amount of fluid consumed, and not the type, says Dr. Robert Glatter, an emergency-medicine physician at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City. But soda can exacerbate the problem because it results in more fluid when the carbonation breaks down.''

Wrong again.
