I have a large mormon family. And it disgusts me how religion uses the young for it's own purposes. Most religions do it,but Mormons seem to be a more intense example of this. Mormons baptize their children at 8 years old because they believe A CHILD CAN MAKE ADULT DECISIONS at 8 years. They say it's the childs choice but obviously an 8 year old probably doesn't understand enough about life to create a lifelong commitment to any particular religion. Also they teach children that sex is shameful and a responsibility to god and not an act of love between consenting adults. And they wonder why marital rape as well as other inappropriate behaviors like child abuse happen. Mormons have a 40 year old man alone with children asking them if they masturbate. religion can make such inappropriate behavior be considered normal. Parents believe it's in the best interest of the child to be raised in religion but there's absolutely no guarantee of that. People stupidly believe that a child will turn out evil if they don't have the fear of god in them. Religion has absolutely nothing to contribute to human morality. Nothing. Thou shalt not kill and other basic ethics were secular laws created hundreds of years before Moses time. Most christians still believe in Armageddon, which could very well be the trigger that starts WW3. And to top it off, they have the arrogance to claim moral superiority over others. Religion should NOT be taught to children. It should be a personal matter. No one should be allowed to treat anyone as less than because their god says so. Religion should be primarily about the metaphysical and spiritual or emotional, not Sex, perversion money and power hiding behind the guise of spirituality
