Discussion VPN's and adverts.

Being in the UK, I sometimes need a VPN to access the site now. I sometimes forget to turn it off and switch to YouTube and I've noticed, I start seeing adverts in whatever language the VPN is accessing the internet from. It's kind of funny somehow. Anyone else experiencing this?

It's sort of strange how very familiar things like supermarkets and sweets are so different in different countries. I once ordered a box of typical sweets from Japan. Their packaging is really fun. Can't say I much enjoyed the sweets though. Just different to what I'm used to. Probably healthier- less sugar.

Do you try different country's authentic cuisine? I think a lot of what we eat in the UK is altered to suit our tastes. So 'Chinese' isn't really authentic 'Chinese'. Just inspired here and there but with more meat, more sugar, fat and salt most likely.

all the time ! or either I look for recipes and then go to an international market
(if I didn't have self control I would probably buy the entire store)

(never had or saw these at a Chinese buffet but your mention of Chinese cuisine made me think about how I've been craving these recently)

I've been going to an Asian market in town for over 20 years, I try to go at least a month. I have certain staples I always buy, but also find at least one new thing each time--a snack, a candy, a drink.

I love trying new foods. We get a lot of ethnic foods in town, lots of Asian options--Indian, Korean, Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese, Thai, Pakistani...

US here. We have so many cultures to experience. Some of them authentic, some "Americanized". It is very fun to see the difference between the two versions. I live in a big city and with lots of different cultures. It is really fun to experience them. I try to find the authentic places and people. I am trying to get more into cooking and want to make my diet "international". I am working to find recipes from everywhere.

It is really interesting to get different culture's idea of types of foods. For example, what is "desert" or "breakfast" in one culture is very different from another. Also, as an American, everyone's "sweets" have way less sugar than ours and it is quite refreshing. I like eating candy without feeling like my teeth are going to rot out of my head.

I love Japanese food the most. The biggest surprise has been Ethiopian. They have some good food!

Yes, I use ublock origin. I don't know about you, but since I pirate and watch porn, it's impossible to surf the internet without this extension.
