Not a major, but maybe a minor reason. Vitamin D would definitely not help in my case lol.

According to what I read on the internet, vitamin D deficiency may cause lowered mood so it is possible you will improve your mood by suplementation of vitamin D.

Comming from my friends who study in food chemistry. Almost everyone has a Vitamin D Deficiency, just as well as an Omega 3 deficiency.

I read a lot about health topics and I'm going to sum what I know without explaining why, I just dont have time right now. Basically supplementing D is totally overrated and can cause more problems. There are many types of D and it cant cover half of them. You have to get sunlight. Just be well hydrated and see 'raw' (no contacts, glasses) sunlight starting at dawn, get some light exercise then, get some sun on your upper body if you can. Then sunbathe mid-late morning. Get small doses throughout the day, see the sunset. Wear real blue light blockers after sunset.

As a bonus eat some oysters for the DHA that your brain needs for sun exposure.

Grounding/earthing, especially with the dirt is slightly damp is another multiplier.

I have vitamin d, b12 and iron deficiency. I haven't been taking my supplements regularly, but I haven't noticed a difference.

yeah vit d is crucial and can certainly be the cause behind your low mood. people have no idea how much your diet affects your mental health. it's a huge contributor.

It may be one of the reasons. Good for depression helps the natural amino acid L-Phenylalanine (not together with protein !).

You can also try st John's wort. It's supposed to be a plant based anti-depressant.

Yeh I was on vitamin D for a few months and then I ran out and did notice I felt a lot more down after I stopped taking it. I think it helped, need to get some more.

Just be careful taking that... It has a lot of interactions with medications and other common foods we eat; you have to be on a low-tyramine diet, which eliminates a lot of the common foods that we eat every day.

Thanks. Not taking it myself but will read up out of curiosity.
